The fact that it was open on a sunday was the only positive to my dine-in experience today. I had brought my keep cup and ordered a skinny cap and an egg and bacon muffin. I took a seat indoors. It was quiet, only 2 others at a nearby table. Yet there where still dirty coffe cups on a nearby table that were still not cleared in the time I was there. Another customer came, orderesd and took a seat. My muffin arrived. It was a snall sad looking thing. The kitchen had decorated the small plate with some spinach and red onion to fill the space. The muffin contained a hard poached egg, a small piece of bacon and was covered in an oily yellow sauce of some kind. The muffin was hot, but chewy, and I struggled to finish it. My coffee arrived a gew minutes later, but not in my keep cup. I reminded them that I had left my keep cup and the waiter dissapeared back into the kitchen. A full minute later he returned, with my cup, the coffee overflowing the lid. While I mopped up the spill and drank my coffee i noticed that the other customer had been brought his meal order, but had sent it back because it was wrong. The waiter went back to the kitchen with the meal and returned a few minutes later to argue with the customer that the mistake was the customers. The customer went to the counter a few words were exchanged and he returned to his seat. A another two minutes passed and he left the cafe. A minute later a waiter appeared with a tray of tea. He looked around the cafe and asked if it wss my order. I informed him no. Then putting two and two together zi told him that the customer at table 1 had left already. Not a good start to their day either. I only came here because my regular cafe is closed on a sunday. But there are others nearby that aren't. I'll be going there next time unless The Wicked Brew...
Read moreTwice in two days I've called to place an order over the phone to be told it will be ready in either 5 or 10 minutes. Now the first order was a Caramel Frappe and was told it would be ready in five mins. 10 minutes later I arrived it wasn't even ready, like nothing was done.
The second phone order was for a toastie on multigrain and wicked hot chocolate to be ready in 10 mins. on arrival 15 mins later the toastie was ready but the hot chocolate like the Frappe wasn't even made yet. I was told it won't be long, so I didn't mind waiting. However the worker who was supposed to make it started making a different coffee order for a lady who walked in after me and she got her order before. I kindly reminded the young guy as to where my wicked hot chocolate was when only then he remembered. What was suppose to take 10 mins ended up with a 20 min total waiting time.
After the first order mishap I thought I'll give wicked brew another chance.
You're better off just walking in there, ordering and waiting cause it's the same as phone orders or you can just avoid the damn...
Read moreI love this place but a couple of things I've learnt. The frappes may be good if you order the milk based ones. When done properly, they taste like an ice cream rich old fashioned milkshake. I used to order a vanilla frappe with a shot or three of coffee to get the best flavour. The problem seems to be that depending on who is working, you may get a drink that tastes like coffee dishwater. Approximately one in five drinks minimum were awful. It's why I've stopped going there. At least Zarraffas offer the same quality each time. Maybe I'll go back in winter when I only order hot drinks. For the rest of the menu, the breakfasts are nice and they usually have lunch specials. It is really like an old fashioned diner. They aren't ultra cheap for food but give you a range of options and prices. Drive through food will be microwaved for speed, dine in will be cooked well if slowly. It is well worth parking and walking in as there are usually plenty of tables and it is air-conditioned. Parking is...
