Stopped by here briefly today whilst we waited for a transfer. Truthfully, the only saving grace was the efficiency and service of the team at the front. Other than that, I found it rather underwhelming and to be quite frank, a tourist trap.
Everything on display looked so appealing. Whilst the prices were enough to deter anyone, considering it is an island and a bakery, where you assume everything is made onsite would justify the outrageous prices. In reality however, what we ordered was simply not up to par and guaranteed not baked this morning (it’s currently 8:20 as I write this). The pie was just warm to touch but wasn’t anything special and I doubt it was made in house. There’s better “take home and bake at home” pies available at supermarkets.
My friend got a cheese and bacon roll (which cost as much as the pie) but it was so stale. I thought it might have been stored in a refrigerated display unit but even still, there’s simply no way it would taste and have the texture that it did. It was old. What made it worse, 98% bread, 1.5% cheese 0.5% bacon. For $8 it was pathetic.
Again, the staff were really lovely and helpful but it’s a real disappointment that the food didn’t meet that...
Read moreTwo things. First, Bob's Bakery did an incredible job of our wedding cake! Thank you so much, team. It was a beautiful red velvet, 8'' tall cake with butter cream icing. It looked stunning with the bird of paradise flowers provided by Floral Collections and tasted amazing, too. We were finishing off the last of the cake nearly a week later, and it was still moist! Many red velvet cakes are dry and disappointing on the day the are baked. Second, we living on chicken sandwhiches, tuna sandwhiches, salad wraps, lamingtons and great coffees from Bob's pretty much every day we were on the island. It's so good to find healthy, fresh food (well the lamington may not have been healthy, but it was certainly fresh and delicious). In all, Bob's Bakery is an absolute go to when we are up on HI and it turns out they also make a miraculous wedding cake....
Read moreBob's bakery had a good selection of baked goods. We had a baked cheesecake slice and a blueberry, lemon curd and coconut slice, both were very tasty. There were plenty of options in the pie section, unfortunately pepper pie wasn't there; may have been sold out. However, their selection of sandwiches looked amazing, heaps of options and at a reasonable price point. Nice place to go for lunch. Bakery is cashless, and service is very friendly, however they can get quite busy and if you go later in the day theres not much to choose from. They are open 7am to 2pm and plenty of buggy parking out the front. Grab a bench seat across the road and take in the view of the marina.
Note: the following day they did have pepper pies...
