Tommy's Highgate — Restaurant in Highgate

The one thing that sadly leaves me with no choice but to skip Tommy’s in the future is the service. We were not attended to for half an hour (!!!) after we sat down, not even to order drinks. It took another half an hour to bring our drinks one by one when the restaurant was not even half full, and the food items came out 15 minutes after one another (we literally ordered only 4 tacos and 2 flatbreads) and they were lukewarm at best, but undeniably yummy and cooked well, just a poor temperature and also quite small tacos for what you pay for. And our drinks were fabulous.

However, they also completely missed one part of our order, we were waiting half an hour for it after finishing the rest of our meal (!!) and the server was actively trying to avoid being flagged down by us and the other tables… at least we got a discount for the error but geez it was unprofessional. We also weren’t checked in on at any stage of the meal. A busy night I can totally forgive this - but we went on a quiet Sunday evening and the bar/service staff were chatting for 5 mins straight while there were meals waiting to be served. The chefs looked clearly frustrated at them lol.

It was a bitterly disappointing and frankly unacceptable experience we had here at Tommy’s and as such we won’t be returning, which is a shame because the space is fabulous...

Wow… I really wish I could share a better experience. The food was genuinely fantastic – full credit to the kitchen for the flavour and quality.

But unfortunately, the service and timing left us feeling pretty deflated.

We were seated at 5pm and advised we’d need to leave the booth by 6:30pm. That was fine at the time – we were ready to celebrate a friend’s new job, dive into the menu and enjoy a big night.

We ordered tequila shots straight away and started eyeing off the tacos. But despite being one of only two tables seated, the drinks took 15 minutes to arrive. It was another 15 minutes before our food order was even taken.

We were keen to tuck into copious tacos – but the food came out painfully slow: one taco after 30 minutes, then two more 10 minutes later, and the final three another 10 minutes after that.

With the time limit looming, we found ourselves having to rush to order more food and drinks, but there was little attention from waitstaff. We ended up going to the bar ourselves just to place another round.

We walked in ready to celebrate and spend, but instead left feeling like we were on the clock and constantly chasing service.

Massive shame, because the food really...

Came here in a Wednesday and it wasn't too busy so the service was good. The food, not so great. We ordered olives, chorizo, corn rib and 2 sets of taco (Fried Brussels Sprouts and Coca Cola Pulled Pork). Corn ribs were nice but the sauce lacked flavour. Chorizo was nice but it wasn't super hot (temperature wise). You could still eat it but would have been better if it was bit warmer. Pulled pork taco was stone cold. At first we were confused in whether it was served like this but called the waiter over and they said they will cook us new ones. They apologised and said they won't charge us for it. The taco was warm, but again would have been better if it was warmer. The brussle sprout taco was fine and no complaints. Overall the food was okay but won't be going back. Everything seemed lukewarm and lacking flavour. When we went to pay the discount wasn't applied for the cold taco. It's not too much of a concern as they cooked another but don't say you'll give discount when you're not going. We ended up going to Molly's for a spice bag after as we were still...
