Absolutely Awful Experience – Avoid Amigos at All Costs As a self-proclaimed foodie, I’ve eaten my fair share of meals—both hits and misses—but Amigos served up what is easily the worst meal I’ve had in a very long time. From start to finish, the entire experience was a letdown. Let’s start with the service. We specifically requested a table inside, but were seated outside despite the restaurant being half-empty. It was freezing, and we sat there for 20 minutes watching open tables inside stay vacant until a couple left. Only then were we finally moved indoors. Totally unnecessary and showed a clear lack of attention or care from staff. Now, the food. The margaritas were terrible—weak, barely a hint of alcohol, and tasted like flat limeade. The nachos? A disaster. They were soggy and topped with canned tomatoes. That should’ve been our red flag to leave. But we stayed (big mistake). The seafood fajitas were borderline inedible—fishy, bland, and completely lacking the sizzle or flavor you’d expect. The so-called “Fire Ball” meatballs were dry, crumbly, and had an off-putting, almost chemical aftertaste. We couldn’t even finish them. And to top it all off—they were out of cilantro. What Mexican restaurant runs out of cilantro?! That’s like an Italian place running out of garlic. Just absurd. The kicker? This horrible meal wasn’t even cheap. For the price, you’d expect at least something decent. Instead, we left hungry, frustrated, and completely ripped off. Do yourself a favor—skip Amigos. There are plenty of better Mexican restaurants out there. This place is all name and no flavor.

Went for the first time a few weeks ago and it was my first Mexican restaurant experience. Had a $20 jug of frozen margarita. They have plenty of flavours but I went strawberry. It was nice - in total probably only 3-4 standard drinks in it. Had the beef Fajitos as a main (see pic). Unsure of what exactly a Fajito is, but it was beef strips with capsicum with tortillas and sauces on the side. Quite a large meal With the jug and this combined I was full. I also tried some beef tacos. The shells were quite tasty, but I think there was probably a bit too much beef at the bottom. So you take a bite from the top, get some beef, lettuce, tomato etc. Then it's just solid beef and taco. I'd like to go back and try a few other things on the menu. Staff were quite nice but the restaurant was empty after 7:30 which is sad.

The food was incredible! The staff were so accommodating to our dinner group's individual needs and requests and to our 10 month old baby. I ordered the Gulf Fajitas which came with 3 soft tortillas and a side of salsa and sour cream. It was absolutely to die for! It was actually the second time in two weeks that i ordered this meal.. The first time with a group of girl friends, the second time, with my family. I am all for trying new things but i just couldnt pass this up. 100% recommend to anyone who enjoys seafood. I am eager to try more things on the Amigos' menu. Definitely a new favorite dinner venue.

You will not find a better place to eat than Amigos. I recommend this restaurant to everyone I can, and everyone who has followed my recommendation has been amazed that they didn’t know this gem existed.

I mourned for a long time when the original restaurant closed down, but when the new one opened up, it opened up even better!

It’s hard to say which is better out of the food or the service, but trust me when I say that they are both the best you’ll find in Tasmania, if not the world.

The food is full of flavour, and can be adjusted to suit people’s needs. If you want spicy food, they’ll give you spicy food. If you’re vegan, no worries, you’ll be looked after here. My only complaint about the food is that there’s so many tantalising options to choose from that I struggle to decide what I’m going to have on each of my regular visits!

The staff are incredible. So attentive and friendly. I’ve had the inevitable odd mistake made in very few of my many visits here, and each time they’ve gone above and beyond to rectify the issue. They are incredibly accommodating. They will do whatever it takes to deliver the best experience possible to their diners.

The atmosphere is also incredible and very kitsch. It makes for a more interesting dining experience than all the other stale, minimalist designed restaurants around.

If you’re trying to decide where to go for a meal, stop right now and go to Amigos. I guarantee you won’t be...

Amigos is the first place my partner and I think to go when we want to go out for dinner. It is our absolute favourite place. We’ve been going regularly for better part of 2 years. We have brought many friends here because we love it that much and celebrated birthdays with the people at Amigos, they are what make this place stand out.

The staff have always been fantastic to us. Always so kind, attentive and patient. They’re so easy to talk to and are so understanding.

The food is always fantastic and the servings are always big and delicious. The drinks are fantastic and would definitely recommend any of them.

They’re pet friendly and are so accommodating towards pets, having a bowl of water and a pet bed ready for you when you arrive. This makes me personally love this place more. The staff were so friendly towards my little dog and showed exactly how caring and loving this restaurant is. Couldn’t ask for a better...
