The Alley Asian Cusine (Formerly Pot Sticker Moonah) — Restaurant in Hobart

We had the worst experience here on Christmas eve. We entered the restaurant at 8.10pm, staff first offered table of 3 for 4 people. Luckily, another table became free, so she got the table ready for us. She then kept saying the kitchen was closing at 8.45pm, so order before. We were fine because we were ready to order. At 8.20pm I went to the register to order food (phone app to order didn't work), and they refused to take order as last dine in order was to place before 8.15pm. I asked if this was the case, why did they clear the table for us in the first place, we could have first placed the order? Staff was quite rude and didn't bend their rules for 3min delay. On ChristmasEve, they turned a family with kids away....shame on them. No proper communication and no concern for customers....would never recommend this...

We walked here for lunch but unfortunately they couldn't accommodate all ten of us at short notice - it is a busy place. I've eaten here a few times and the window seat is perfect for watching passers-by if there's just a couple of you. The window angle prevents pedestrians from seeing you until they are almost past, so you can stare at them but they won't see you dropping food on your shirt. I bought the pan fried dumplings, which were very tasty, but I had to eat them while sitting on those blue metal seats on Main Road Moonah. The service was a bit confused, possibly overwhelmed by the torrent of people rushing into the shop like a river in flood after several days of above average rainfall. I'll have to try something different next time, but it's hard...those...

We placed an order for pickup at 6:40 and arrived right on time. The order wasn’t ready which is fine when my partner tells the person behind the counter his name, which is fine! However, 30 mins later the order still hasn’t been called out and he’s gone up again to ask, no apology, the person just turned around and looked at dockets. Another 10 mins and he gets out food which had been sitting in the hot box for goodness knows how long! Even though he asked multiple times. Not a single apology or compensation. I understand it gets busy and it can be highly stressful but this is such poor service. Al the other times we’ve been here it’s been fantastic so this was a rare occurrence but a...
