We got in at 2 in the afternoon... there were NO staff anywhere! We had to call a number pasted on the front door(the person did not answer!!). Finally got through to another after which we were given a code to enter. Imagine standing on the sidewalk with luggage, tired, and in need of a good hotel!! Naah-ah.||The hotel is very old... and apparently, that's the charm... but to have verrry creaky flooring and no sound proofing is a nightmare to say the least! The cacophony from the road is non stop from 4.30am!!||We were so disturbed and the uncomfortable mattress did not help.||||DO NOT be fooled by their parking information... there is NO parking!! You can park at Woolies across the road or in one of the two spots outside the Inn and move every 2 hours! If you are lucky, you can grab a spot at 6pm and not move till 8am(free) Or, pay for parking a way down the road which is so inconvenient. ||||There are no microwaves anywhere, except in the locked kitchen (i presume). If you have to keep your hotel unstaffed, this is the least you can do. A kettle doesn't heat meals brought from outside you know! Travelers don't always sit at a restaurant and eat.||The upside- 1. Close to town||2. Great steak (the one time we saw staff and hot food at the Inn)!!||||Overall a bad experience... we read some good reviews and were expecting a great stay... we couldn't wait to leave!||We stayed in a little caravan park in Bicheno and that was soooo much more...
Read moreIt's well known that us Hobartions are sticklers for cosy venues with good soul replenishing food and even more so suckers for finding these types of gems snuggly and smugly planted away from the usual hustle of our "go to" spots... The Tasmanian Inn is 100% all about this.
Nestled between the core of the city and the heart of North Hobart, The Tasmanian Inn (Tas Inn for us here locals) is an easy way to get some good grub, good local grog and take a breather with the gang. There are plenty of spots to nuzzle into a good ole D&M such as inside, outside or upstairs on the balcony. Each one has its own charm (upstairs has some wicked views, I'd recommend a bottle of wine with some mates. Super chilled)
Filled with a chilled out vibe, the bar staff are extremely approachable and knowledgeable. I had a quick glance at the menu and before I could get two lines down.. I heard the sweetest lines a fella could hear "It's steak night, grab a porter steak with a seasonal salad and some super crispy chips for $18". Mate, I was sold and let me tell you, it was effin delicious! It was cooked perfectly.
Live music is a thing. All you need to do is call up the bar staff to find out when and hey, if you fancy yourself a master of pool... why not hit up the pool table?
As Arnie would say and ESPECIALLY if he dined in this place..........
Read moreFor a little pub stay. This was a fantastic little place. I can't honestly speak highly enough of the guest service I received. From the moment I walked I'm the door. I was greeted with a smile. Offered a beverage as the bar was about to close for the evening. I was given a tour then my key. So simple no stress at all. Any request that I had, the staff were more then helpful and if they didn't know the answer. They searched for some on to help. The atmosphere was just so kind and laid back. They have a great top deck where you can sit in the sun and have a beverage or coffee. Down stairs They have an open fire wood heater in the bar and lounges with decent sized tables to relax and unwind The beer garden in great for sitting out under the stars. And they have such warm heaters it's like summer all year around. They offer a really good selection of wines and spirits And the menue is great with a different range of food and options to suit all food preferences and dietary requirements an restrictions. Cosey and warm beds with heating in the room I had a balcony which was really nice to sit and have a wine abd look at the busy street. The bathrooms are shared but still very clean. Clean and hygienic toilets too. Over all bloody fantastic. I'll definitely be...
