Feb 2023: From the outside, Lazy Brunch looks like a boring takeaway. Honestly, considering it's right in the middle of tradie and car dealership land. The outside reflects nothing as to the Beauty of what you'll find inside. This is why I've always passed by without going in. It was only because I forced myself in that I realised that this was a modern brunch venue full of yuppies. Nothing wrong with yuppies, it's just a little pretentious. The fit out is stunning and beautiful. Maybe if the outside looked quite as stunning as the inside, it would be much more popular. The young man who served me was super friendly and had a wonderful smile. He was very patient whilst I figured out their menu. I opted for a quick meal of chicken with "three wedges" as curiously described by the server. Surprised that they charge a 1.9% surcharge on all card payments, as who actually pays by cash these days? This would mean almost all transactions have a surcharge. Sounds a little like penny pinching if you ask me. Wouldn't it be easier to just include/add this surcharge to the menu price? The less I know about surcharges, the happier I am. Food arrived quite quickly, however no cutlery, napkins or water arrived with it. Not wanting to ask, I just assumed it was deemed finger food. It was messy, and by the time I got half way through, I was too embarrassed to ask for the missing items. Also seemingly missing, was the dipping sauce that was noted on the menu and I've now noticed in other review photos. this meant that the chicken was very dry to consume. Again, too embarrassed to ask. I ate, and left, along with my very...
Read moreI went to The Lazy Brunch in Hobart for what was supposed to be a nice late breakfast/brunch, and honestly, it was one of the worst food experiences I’ve had. I actually thought the breakfast at my hotel was bad, but after this place, the hotel breakfast felt amazing.
The atmosphere itself was okay — nothing special, nothing terrible. The seats were at least comfortable. But the food… wow. Tiny portions and totally underwhelming. I ordered a fried chicken dish that on the menu just said “four pieces of chicken.” When it came out, it was four of the tiniest pieces imaginable — smaller than my fist — with barely any meat inside the batter. And the sweet chili sauce on it just made it taste worse.
To make it even more frustrating, we waited at least 50 minutes for our food. By the time it arrived, I was already annoyed, and then the portions and flavor just made it worse.
I tried to brush it off and keep going with my day, but as soon as I got back in the car I felt sick — like properly nauseous, almost like I was going to throw up. It completely took the joy out of my holiday morning.
I also ordered another little dish that came with just one prawn on top and mostly salad underneath. It really felt like they were cheaping out on ingredients. The meals didn’t fill me up at all, and overall it was just such a...
Read moreI have to unfortunately edit my review. Ive been a long time patron over a year when this establishment sprouted.
I bring my family EVERY WEEKEND to this cafe and with the current economic climate I still managed to spend $150 weekly for our meals.
The meals were excellent.
The atmosphere is wonderful despite the noises from the chairs, occasionally loud music or crowds, and clanking of dishes.
The service from a particular server was more than commendable! THE ONLY REASON I keep returning.
However until a few months ago, the daughter/owner of this establishment's unfavourably service 'or lack of' made me feel as if my money not good here. And I felt as if Im back in Hong Kong where most servers 'slam your meals' on the table without any Thank you or Welcome or inclination of service.
In full disclosure, I gave the 'person a benefit of adult' oh perhaps shes having a bad day etc... Weekend after weekend... hmmm leaves me unsatisfied and unfortunately the 'commendable male server' is the only reason my family and I were made 'Welcomed' to make up for her unfavourable service.
Truly disappointing. Something for reflection. F&B is a tough industry. Basic courtesy to keep your 'returning customers ' coming...
