This is a bit lengthy but I like to be fair with all my reviews, whether positive or negative. In this particular case, the service was so lousy and the waitress was so rude that I'm going to go into more detail than I normally would. Went with family and friends to the snow for a few days and on our first night we went to this restaurant for dinner - a Monday night around 7ish. We told the waitress there would be 8 people, and she informed us that there would be approx a 40 minute wait as they had a party of 12 people dining at one table and were quite busy. She suggested that if we ordered immediately then maybe the wait wouldn't be as long and that they did have a table for a seating of 8. We were ok with that, my daughter and I popped outside just to ring our friends who were on the way to see how long they'd be. On our return inside a couple of minutes later, another waitress told us that there were no tables for 8 so the group would have to be separated. I looked over to the section and saw a table setting for 10 and told her what the previous waitress had told us. This rude, unfriendly waitress had just sat a couple in the middle of the 10 setting table and was hesitant to do anything to rectify the situation, worse than that was her arrogant attitude. Waitress: "So, are you asking me to tell the customers to move?" Me: "I'm not asking you to do anything. We were told a few minutes ago that there were tables for our group and now you're saying there isn't." She asked the couple to move one table down. Then this incompetent waitress let us all sit there for about 15mins without taking our orders or even coming near the table. The sour look on her face and overall demeanor suggested that she was either having a very bad day or that she hates her job. Horrible, uncomfortable experience and no idea why there would've been such lengthy waits as the restaurant was half empty anyway. In the end, we all just got up and left and had a lovely meal at a Mexican...
Read moreI would like to address The Bolognese Blunder and the Non-Verbal Customer Service Lady from 21st of July 2024. I hope she has found her calling since, because customer service is not for her, as a rude old hag who never went to class 101 of hospitality “greeting customers”.
My recent experience at this Italian restaurant was nothing short of a nightmare, all thanks to one particularly rude waitress. After a long wait at the counter, this lady in glasses finally made her appearance—only to point at me as if I were an inconvenience. Initiating the conversation myself, I could barely mask my frustration. A tip for her: evolving past caveman gestures would be beneficial. A simple "hi" or "how can I help?" would go a long way in creating a welcoming atmosphere.
The real disaster unfolded when I got home and discovered my friend’s spaghetti bolognese was missing. I called the restaurant repeatedly, only to have my calls answered and then abruptly hung up. When I finally got through, the response was a cold, "So are you coming back to get it?"—as if I was the problem. This level of indifference was astounding.
The final insult came when my friend returned to collect the missing dish. The same insufferable waitress, still clinging to her non-verbal routine, pointed at him and walked away in silence. She then returned with the bolognese, dangling it in his face with not a single word. Seeing her answer the phone earlier made it clear she was fully capable of speaking, yet she chose to remain utterly uncommunicative.
Despite the service nightmare, the food was decent. However, this restaurant will struggle to be a great dining spot until they address their severe customer service issues—particularly the rude, non-verbal lady with...
Read morethis is a place that picks and chooses their customers.
Before covid lockdown during winter, we had a booking for 2 separate groups a 10 and 3 and when we had asked if we could add 3 more people to the table of 10. They had said they were "fully booked out", however during the course of the night half the place was empty! And we had awkwardedly sat a couple meters away. It was incredibly disappointing. Multiple times I saw them turn away people saying they were fully booked out when so many tables and chairs were left empty! I don't understand why you would do that to your customers.
When we had caught up with the table of 3 after dinner, they were told by the waiter " we will be offering you our secret menu pasta' but we will not be offering it to the table of 10 because they were whingers". The only thing that happened on the table of 10 was that one person asked if your previous special was available and showed dissapointed because they loved loved this jindabyne italian restaraunt.
We were dissapointed in the disparity of service provided and the complete unprofessionalism shown. We were keen to try this restaraunt and heard great things about it. But after that night, never again. We understand that you're a busy italian restaraunt during the winter season, but it does not excuse being a complete knob.
Rest assured none of us would be dining here again and neither will any of...
