Strictly avoid this horrendous business if you have a medical impairment.
I visited Nuggets Crossing Shopping Centre on the 5th of July 2024 with my service animal. Amongst us, there were several dogs within the courtyard of the shopping centre, which is presumably pet-friendly though my efforts to contact management for confirmation thus far have been unsuccessful. Nonetheless, service animals are widely recognised for their role of assistance and are therefore permitted to accompany their companion where required.
It was the late evening wherein shops were closing for business hence foot-traffic was minimal. As we were waiting for our family to finish their groceries at the supermarket, we wandered around the courtyard and eventually into Sundance Bakery. “Into” is perhaps not an accurate term to use given we merely set foot within one metre of the entrance, soon to realise it was obstructed by a sign.
Within approximately three seconds, whilst I was still registering the nature of my surroundings, the layout, signage and bearings of the shop, I was rudely reprimanded by the most awful customer service attendant I’ve ever encountered with a very abrupt “get the dog out”, a manner in which a parent may perhaps scold a child. In the seven years of being accompanied by a service animal, I’ve never been so horribly received by any other place of business I’ve visited and struggled to register the insult for a brief moment, though immediately made an effort to turn around and exit as this was not an interaction I wished to engage in. Whilst doing so, I was subject to yet another “get the dog out” in a much louder inflection to which I firmly responded “I am” and proceeded to leave.
While we have previously been in similar situations, the customer service staff have been polite and at the very least exhibited basic manners with inclusion of “sorry”, “please”, “thank you”, with an opportunity for us to apologise and explain our reasoning if there has been an oversight of the service animal’s identifiable harness. This woman not only lacked the capacity for basic etiquette for interpersonal interactions, but is further an abysmal excuse for an employee or business owner, I suspect the latter as we’ve found employees in general to be polite and understanding and her arrogance and awful demeanour alludes to her not having to answer to a superior in the event of a poor review.
I have never reviewed any business before as I tend not to engage online however, I felt this most obnoxious encounter warranted repercussions for the gross misdemeanour as well as caution for others in a similar situation. On reference to other reviews, it appears there have been innumerable other poor experiences owing to staffing, with a select few fellow reviewers describing characteristics which resonate with that of the insolent woman we were chastised by.
Unfortunately, given the circumstances I cannot comment on the quality or cost of food however, it certainly appeared less than appealing and I wouldn’t have very high expectations from a business that is entirely lacking in...
Read moreEnthusiasm is a zone in this review that has to be taken with a grain of salt as my experience with Sundance Bakehouse, located down in Jindabyne, was rather a takeaway affair.
It was an early morning rise, a cool morning breeze drifts in and out of my relaxed clothes, a random craving seems to have sprung upon me for baked goods. Walking around Nuggets Crossing Shopping Centre led us to a bakery that featured a line of locals eagerly wanting their hands on some warm pastries. Whilst the idea of a line did initially leave me reluctant to commit, my girlfriend gave me the push that I personally needed.
When eventually given the chance to enter, upon their walls were rows of bread in different types and sizes, and I guess for someone who left the specificity of my craving up to the time of actual choosing, doughnuts eventually caught my eye. From a distance, one could have mistaken it for a regular doughnut, which honestly would have been more than sufficient. However, it was to my surprise that it was a stuffed doughnut, carrying with it a generous layer of cream and custard that would have any sweet-tooth individual with a mouth full of saliva.
Upon the first bite, I was in heaven. Was it the romanticism in me, standing at an unfamiliar place with a beautiful view to match (the landscape of the town really is remarkable), or was it just simply hunger and an intensified craving that amplified such a reaction? Whatever it was, the dough was marvellous. It was like biting into a cloud but with it enough texture that it doesn't feel completely airy. It truly was the composition of a doughnut that I feel all should aspire to. The cream and custard delicious but all in all felt more of a supplement to the dough that housed it.
It sounds kind of silly but that really was one of the greater highlights of that trip.
Also, my girlfriend ordered a steak and mushroom pie from the bakehouse. It was tasty and left me impressed due to the generous chunk of beef within but all in all that was an experience that felt hazy due to the overwhelming impact that the...
Read moreI was there on opening weekend of snow season 2025. Stopped by on the Friday & ordered 2 pepper steak pies. 1 of them was outstanding, very hot & tasty. The 2nd one was half cold. We came back on Monday morning at 10 a.m before driving back to Sydney for breakfast. Walked inside & they were nearly all sold out of pies & sausage rolls. People were just buying the scraps. We waited until they brought out the next batch out from.the oven. After over 15 minutes, a girl brought out a tray of pies. Once again I ordered 2 pepper steak pies which just came out of the oven. Went outside & sat down thinking these are going to be the best freshest pies I've ever had. To my disappointment, they were AGAIN half cold. The middle was virtually uncooked. They needed another 15 minutes in the oven at least. I was SO ANGRY. I HATE PAYING FOR SHIT FOOD !!!!!!!!! Very disappointed. 4 years ago they were much much better. I will NOT be going there again the next time I'm down there. There is a 2nd bakery nearby around the corner. Ended up going there for a pepper steak pie after throwing the 2nd half eaten pie in the bin. The other bakery pie was fantastic, nice...
