I hate doing negative reviews but this experience was simply tragic. Group of 8 out for a birthday dinner. There are no bookings. Arrived around 6.30 and were seated at the top floor. Place was busy but not full. The smoke from the grill on top floor was so thick you could carve it. In fact it made the airport smoking lounge look like an alpine retreat. Asked for the windows behind us to be opened but were denied by management. Had to ask for water glasses. No table service. Went to bar and waited ~25 minutes to order drinks. Everyone ordered meals within 10 minutes. Meals arrived over a no less than 30 minute period. Those who waited to eat together were eating luke warm meals. $27 chicken burger made of minced / shreded patties. The Burrata salad came without the basil. When queried owner replied "must have run out". Asked for some olive oil instead, was told to get it in the kitchen (again by the owner). The schnitzel and Parmie were good. The mostly seasonal staff were polite and doing their best in difficult conditions often running around like headless chickens with mixed up meals from table to table. This is a lovely joint inside and has potential. It's definitely on the pricier side with a rump steak going for ~$62 so one would expect a certain level of quality. Pitty the lame management is the weakest link here. We will not be back as there are much better options in town.

Unforgettable Friday Night, Great Food, and Lively Vibe! Brumby Bar & Grill is an absolute gem in Jindabyne! We headed here on a Friday night, thanks to a fantastic recommendation from a local friend. He managed to get us a table in the first row, which gave us the perfect spot to enjoy the incredibly fun open mic night. The atmosphere was electric and exactly what you want after a day on the slopes. For our dinner, we ordered a tomahawk steak. While it was advertised as 1.2 kg, we felt it might have been slightly less, but that’s a small point because the steak was still absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. The food here is top-notch. We also appreciated the streamlined process of ordering food through the QR code, and grabbing drinks at the bar. It was all fast, easy, and efficient. All in all, the combination of fantastic entertainment, delicious food, and a lively atmosphere made for an unforgettable night. The service was great, and we'll definitely be back for another round. This place truly captures the heart of Jindabyne's social scene!

Cozy pub with nice food. We were seated upstairs - they have online bookings which makes it so much easier. Especially on a busy weekend during ski season! We ordered our meals but something happened with the system and our orders did not go through to the kitchen. We waited about an hour - not in a hurry or anything - just kept chatting and then realised we had actually waited for a while. Once we let the waiter know they followed up and came over to apologise for the delay and the mistake. They’ve then kindly offered us a free bottle of wine and free dessert! They really did not have to do that but it was something that was done - a very kind and professional gesture! We really appreciated it. The food was delicious - huge servings! I had the chicken schnitzel and my other half had the steak! Loved this place !!! Highly recommend.

We booked the brumby bar and grill for 8 for a birthday dinner. We were up for a snow trip. 2 extra friends joined our trip last minute. I called the brumby bar to make sure this was okay. No answer several times. We had to pay 10pp to reserve the table. We would have lost 80 if we cancelled or didn’t go.

We turned up to our reservation on time. We were treated by a young child eating his dinner at the door. He checked us in. I asked him if we could have 2 extra chairs. He looked at me as if he was scared. I knew from this point it was going to be a problem. We walked up to our table. The 2 waitresses were counting us as we walked past. I could see what they were saying “that’s more than 8 fu$&@/? People”. We sat down at the table. The waitress then came up and said “excuse me your booking was for 8” I explained our situation as above. Her response was “We only take a maximum booking of 8, we can serve 8 and 2 will have to leave” “are you serious” was our response. We walked down the stairs to leave the bar only to hear the waitress say “I’m fu?@&)! Over people”. I walked up to the waitress and apologised. The conversation went back and forth. We asked how it would be different if we booked 2 tables for 5. The waitress then put her head in her hands and said “arrrh I can’t deal with this” and walked towards the male chef and said “you deal with them” the chef then aggressively walked up to us with his tongs in hand and said “I’m not happy about this”. Again the conversation went back and forth getting heated. Mean while other customers are sitting near by who can hear what’s going on. As we go to walk away the last comment was “goodluck finding somewhere for dinner tonight”.

Absolutely appalling service.

We walked out across the road to lake Jindabyne hotel. It was packed. And the service...

My partner and I booked ahead a table of 2, which was confirmed by the owner via email, however when we came we were told very rudely “we don’t take reservations for two” and the server - Sonia - attempted to dismiss us. We had to pull up the email showing the approved reservation (she was the one who approved the email in the first place) to which we received an eye roll and were made to feel as if we were in the wrong while they found us a table. The table we were given was the only one around us without a drinks menu available, we had to ask for one, which Sonia never gave - one of the other staff members had to get us one. My partner and I look young but are well of age, a simple check of IDs in fine if you are unsure but to treat us as less than because you feel we are not adults is just rude and uncalled for, especially when we are paying relatively expensive prices for your food.

While seated we observed the same server - Sonia - talking in the same manner to those around us, “are you done yet?” to a family with two young kids, “you weren't listening then ” to a gentlemen sitting behind us when he asked about how to order (they don’t come to the table, you go up and order everything via the small front counter)

My partners “medium rare” steak came out blue, but we felt too uncomfortable to ask for it to be sent back. The other staff seemed nice enough, albeit petrified of the owner (no one could be seated or served it seemed without having to consult Sonia first). The bar staff were lovely, however didn’t seem confident in the making of the drinks that were advertised on the menu.

All around experience, won’t be...

Made a booking at this restaurant and drove 45 minutes. Then we waited 45 minutes to be seated and once seated we were told all steaks were sold out. Being a bar and "Grill" I find that unacceptable and in the unforseen event that this happens, we should have been notified very early on.

I noticed on the menu that there was another dish that contained eye fillet and I asked if they could sell us those separately. She then left the counter to seek the managers approval. She returned to inform me he said no.

I politely explained that we have made alot of effort to attend to this "Grill" for steak and there is no steak available and I have proposed a solution which was rejected and now I would like to understand what their solution is.

The waitress then had an emotional breakdown and began crying, not because of my actions but because she's clearly had enough of being the face of a poorly run company and having to deal with regular customer dissatisfaction.

The manager then came over and told me I've made his staff cry and became aggressive towards me and asked us to leave. I did not contribute to the employees emotional breakdown his mismanagement did.

This is a terribly run "Grill", management clearly have zero understanding of stock control, customer satisfaction, dispute resolution etc.

Go to Rydges across the road where you can find quality food in a restaurant run by...
