We booked the brumby bar and grill for 8 for a birthday dinner. We were up for a snow trip. 2 extra friends joined our trip last minute. I called the brumby bar to make sure this was okay. No answer several times. We had to pay 10pp to reserve the table. We would have lost 80 if we cancelled or didn’t go.
We turned up to our reservation on time. We were treated by a young child eating his dinner at the door. He checked us in. I asked him if we could have 2 extra chairs. He looked at me as if he was scared. I knew from this point it was going to be a problem. We walked up to our table. The 2 waitresses were counting us as we walked past. I could see what they were saying “that’s more than 8 fu$&@/? People”. We sat down at the table. The waitress then came up and said “excuse me your booking was for 8” I explained our situation as above. Her response was “We only take a maximum booking of 8, we can serve 8 and 2 will have to leave” “are you serious” was our response. We walked down the stairs to leave the bar only to hear the waitress say “I’m fu?@&)! Over people”. I walked up to the waitress and apologised. The conversation went back and forth. We asked how it would be different if we booked 2 tables for 5. The waitress then put her head in her hands and said “arrrh I can’t deal with this” and walked towards the male chef and said “you deal with them” the chef then aggressively walked up to us with his tongs in hand and said “I’m not happy about this”. Again the conversation went back and forth getting heated. Mean while other customers are sitting near by who can hear what’s going on. As we go to walk away the last comment was “goodluck finding somewhere for dinner tonight”.
Absolutely appalling service.
We walked out across the road to lake Jindabyne hotel. It was packed. And the service...
Read moreMy partner and I booked ahead a table of 2, which was confirmed by the owner via email, however when we came we were told very rudely “we don’t take reservations for two” and the server - Sonia - attempted to dismiss us. We had to pull up the email showing the approved reservation (she was the one who approved the email in the first place) to which we received an eye roll and were made to feel as if we were in the wrong while they found us a table. The table we were given was the only one around us without a drinks menu available, we had to ask for one, which Sonia never gave - one of the other staff members had to get us one. My partner and I look young but are well of age, a simple check of IDs in fine if you are unsure but to treat us as less than because you feel we are not adults is just rude and uncalled for, especially when we are paying relatively expensive prices for your food.
While seated we observed the same server - Sonia - talking in the same manner to those around us, “are you done yet?” to a family with two young kids, “you weren't listening then ” to a gentlemen sitting behind us when he asked about how to order (they don’t come to the table, you go up and order everything via the small front counter)
My partners “medium rare” steak came out blue, but we felt too uncomfortable to ask for it to be sent back. The other staff seemed nice enough, albeit petrified of the owner (no one could be seated or served it seemed without having to consult Sonia first). The bar staff were lovely, however didn’t seem confident in the making of the drinks that were advertised on the menu.
All around experience, won’t be...
Read moreMade a booking at this restaurant and drove 45 minutes. Then we waited 45 minutes to be seated and once seated we were told all steaks were sold out. Being a bar and "Grill" I find that unacceptable and in the unforseen event that this happens, we should have been notified very early on.
I noticed on the menu that there was another dish that contained eye fillet and I asked if they could sell us those separately. She then left the counter to seek the managers approval. She returned to inform me he said no.
I politely explained that we have made alot of effort to attend to this "Grill" for steak and there is no steak available and I have proposed a solution which was rejected and now I would like to understand what their solution is.
The waitress then had an emotional breakdown and began crying, not because of my actions but because she's clearly had enough of being the face of a poorly run company and having to deal with regular customer dissatisfaction.
The manager then came over and told me I've made his staff cry and became aggressive towards me and asked us to leave. I did not contribute to the employees emotional breakdown his mismanagement did.
This is a terribly run "Grill", management clearly have zero understanding of stock control, customer satisfaction, dispute resolution etc.
