Too many signs Don’t do this. Can’t do that. Makes you wonder what sort of customers they get or might get. This is a campsite resort in the majority. Happy campers. 90% of its shops restaurants closed ( NO STAFF) This place was one of the few open ! Not our normal choice of place but it was a start The food smelled good Menu not too bad either BUT …… Amongst the signs NO DOGS ALLOWED ‘signs’ in the Hotel - so we sat in the al-fresco area ! Every other place in the country Spain uk allows dogs in al-fresco unless specifying NO DOGS ALLOWED One Rude white balding tallish mature male staff member marched over to us - we were by now on our second round. Practically put his grubby hand around the rim of my wine glass which was more than one quarter full and with his other grubby hand was going to take my husbands 3/4 full pint Big mistake ! Because he wanted to tell us our dog wasn’t welcome and hadn’t we seen the ‘ signs’?? He abruptly told us NO DOGS ALLOWED & pointed his finger to one of the ‘ signs’ Moments ago - & on arrival while the rest of the staff petted him and the bar staff sold us drinks. This man obviously took offence to us and our dog. Maybe he was the ‘ signs’ maker ! Very rude person Didn’t get chance to sample the food

We stopped in the Kalbarri motel for a pub meal and a drink for dinner. Location is excellent. The venue was bustling with the flow of tourists passing through town. The menu looked good. I had a hankering for a snitty. The missus not overly hungry. No snitty on the menu but there was a parmy. Strange as a snitty is a parmy without the cheese!! The staff super friendly asked the kitchen and made it happen. I was curious why they wanted to cover the chicken. Soon this became apparent. The chicken was mass produced/processed frozen slice. No texture or flavour and most certainly frozen. Chips were good and salad ok. The missus ordered a Hawaiian pizza. Seemed like McCains from the supermarket. With such a high turnover of customers I would think fresh would be best. No excuses. Sadly a big miss. Most of the staff from my experience were foreign travellers. Very friendly though it was obvious the manager was on edge about how they did their job. This was the focus while I waited at the bar for a drink. We probably wouldn’t come back though it wouldn’t matter with new tourists rolling through each day.

We made a reservation several days ago and pre ordered the day before. Our group arrived on time, and one of the staff was telling us that it will take an hour. We told her about the point of making a reservation, but she was being very rude towards us such saying “ma’am I’m not going to speak to you about that” even though she started the conversation (also being very rude and impolite). She told us we needed to be expecting this because its the school holidays and we are the one who are being dramatic. When we talked to another staff, they finally said we are getting our food in 10 minutes. This was the worse customer service I’ve ever experienced. The food was okay, but the atmosphere was just dead and will never come here again. If you want to enjoy your holidays and not get ruined because of a woman yelling at you, please don’t come to this restaurant. EVER The rude staff came up to me and said “If you talk to an adult like that again, you will not be welcomed”. I wasn’t even yelling, and our group also told this exact same thing to here a minute ago. I don’t understand this restaurant at all.

We have a holiday house in Kalbarri and make it that we go to the pub for dinner every time because of how good it used to be When I walked up to the menu board a lot of the menu had the prices removed becase they were not serving those meals After looking at the outrageous prices for pub grub I decided on one of the cheapest mead parmy chips and salad As soon as I saw my meal it looked sub par and the serving was small for $27 but stupid me didn't say anything then The meal came out very quickly pointing to the fact it was not freshly cooked The parmy edges were dried out, and the bottom was slightly burned and the cheese was brown again indicating it was sat in a warmer for some time The salad was one leaf of lettuce, one slice of cucumber, one slice of tomato and a few pieces of very very fine, julienne carrot which had obviously been prepared long time before The chips were obviously the cheapest frozen French fries that were very brown bordering on burnt and oil dripping off them and a very small serving I had a few slices off the parmy and when I realised just how bad it was ( very bland and tasteless ) I took it back to the counter I pointed it out to the girl taking orders only to be met with a blank stare and shrug of the shoulders No offer of a replacement or offer another type of dish which if offered I would have paid extra for

This is after my last time there where the meal was again average but thought it just may have been a bad night Unfortunately I was wrong I felt so totally ripped off to pay $27 for such a terrible meal I have tried to email the pub to voice my total dissatisfaction in the meal and the staff attitude, but you cannot email them I hope the licencee sees this and responds Maybe stop hiring backpackers that don't give a crap for a start or at least have your chef actually look what's being sent out It's totally disgusting and a bad reflection on a town I love Worst mistake wasn't taking any pictures but honestly, I was just so angry about how bad it was and total lack of empathy by staff I didn't even think about doing it so...

My partner and I were recently in Kalbarri over the Christmas holidays. On our first night we thought we would treat ourselves to a pub meal and save the cooking for later in the trip. I ordered the fishermans basket. What I received was anything but. I was served some overcooked seafood smothered in a soy sauce, and I mean smothered. This was not what I expected and quite revolting to be honest. There was nothing on the menu that stated it came with soy sauce, and one would assume a fisherman's basket is pretty much some fried fish with grilled squid etc. Rather standard. If you are going to create your own version make sure you put this in the menu. I returned the dish to the kitchen, and asked for another serve but without the sauce, only to be returned what looks like the exact same plate with a tiny bit of the sauce drained off. It was completely inedible. Salty seafood with salty sauce is just not a good combo. My partner then took it back for a second time, and asked for a refund. To top of this experience the girl who served us was extremely rude and miserable and I overhead two of the female bar staff talking in the bathroom about how cool it is to do drugs especially when you are at work. Avoid eating here at all costs. Clearly their staff need better training.

We then went over to Giglai Tavern for some chips as I was starving after the somewhat 7 hour drive. Thank god they were able to accommodate us even when their kitchen was closing. We then only went to Gilgai's for the remainder of...

On our trip to Kalbarri we stopped in for a drink and somewhere to get some food...the pub was the obvious choice! On first impression the venue was decent, lots of people enjoying their days and drinks, there was a small play area for the children, and dogs were seemingly permitted.

Within the first few sips of our drinks, one of the bar staff came out to clear glasses, and very rudely told us to move as we were smoking...I pointed out that there were no no smoking signs and she replied ‘there is a designated smoking area over there’ ...with no clear directions of where ‘over there’ might be.

However, it didn’t matter as the conversation brought her attention to the 2kg chihuahua asleep in my lap (on lead) and we were subsequently (and very rudely) told that dogs aren’t allowed and we had to leave. Mind you, there’s a big dog sat on the plants in the corner and another wandering around without lead or owner.

Her reply was that she doesn’t make the rules.

Pretty disappointing to be fair. A tourist destination where people stay with their pets more often than not and we were asked to leave.

Wouldn’t have been such an issue if the other 2 dog owners were asked to leave also.

A local we got chatting with later in the day said it was probably a blessing in disguise as the food...
