Buddhas Bites — Restaurant in Kalbarri

WOW!!!! My first ever google review but this is how good Buddha’s bites was/is as we still sit here enjoying our last sip of wine. The place just ticked every single box for top food,top service and one very accommodating and gifted chef.

Chopped and changed a few items on the set menu to suit me and my partners tastes, wasn’t a problem. We had the pork Belly and scallop for starters, was delicious and seriously generous portions.

For mains, Partner had the rendeng curry with the tenderest meat you would hope to find in a curry (had to help her finish as couldn’t see that meat go to waste)

I Had the steak of the day (sirloin,but more like a lengthy eye fillet how it was cooked and tasted) added a Buddha salad and carrot purée and Best steak I’ve had in memory. Meat and co wouldn’t get a look in with this guy :)

Only problem is we leave tomorrow and can’t come back to try other menu items but see you next time for sure .

The go to in Kalbarri from what we heard was Finlay’s, Restaurant but having eaten there on this trip also I’m presuming people have yet to try this hidden gem.

One of the most expensive meals with one of the poorest customer service experience. When we walked in, we were asked to carry our own water bottle to the table from the till. When I went to place the order and pay, I asked for a second bottle. After seeing them serving water to other tables, I assumed they will bring it to our table. When the waitress brought the water, she said in a very rude way that I was supposed to carry it over from the till.

We were super confused why some tables were getting their water served to their table while others like me carry our own.

Does the waitress make a decision which customers carry the water bottle based on the way people talk, dress or perhaps the skin colour? Not sure. Even after speaking to the manager, we still don’t know why it happened. The manager did ask the girls to make sure they serve the water. But did not hear an apology or good gesture from either the manager or the waitress.

Food was below average. Fish was overcooked and dry. For the price you pay, there should be better options in Kalbarri. Close to $120 for 3 below average meals and terrible service.

Would not go back or recommend it to...

Hubby n I went for dinner tonight and it was delicious! I wish we went there on our first night in Kalbarri coz we would've gone every night, it's a shame we only found out about the place on our last day. We ordered the pork bites and the chicken satay to share for entree. The pork was soooo good! The satay was yum too but just a tad hot for my taste, it was still yum tho. Hubby had beef rendang and I had the chicken parmi. Hubby loved his rendang and I couldn't fault my parmi either. The chicken was tender, the chips were the best I've had and even the salad was tasty. Thanks guys for a great meal.
