Could be the closest to fine dining in kalbarri, the kalbarri edge resort's restaurant has a buffet for dinner. At $50 per head it is not a cheap option, but it is an option. (Drinks are on top) Tonight's soup course was meant to be pumpkin, instead it was cream of cauliflower. That idea did not excite me, but it was actually very good. The salads were pretty standard, the hot dishes were also generally adequate, the pork belly a bit of a stand out, and the sweet potato chips very good. Instead of lasagne they had a Bolognese penne. It was tasty, but a bit of a cheap filler dish in a not cheap buffet. The steak was a bit tough, roast potatoes and green vegetable mix just side dishes. There was also a fish option and calamari. The dessert range was possibly the best option. The chocolate fudge cake was very good, the caramel cheesecake a little behind that (too much caramel made it get sickly rich quite quickly). The citrus cake a bit dry and underwhelming, the caramel slice was unnecessary when you have the caramel cheesecake, and brownies. Fruit and strawberry mousse rounded off the desserts. In all, not a bad little buffet, but not a cheap option.

The Kalbarri edge resort restaurant website showed amazing food images and a delicious sounding menu, so we made a booking. We arrived to find the menu was completely different which was disappointing. We ordered the tuna sashimi which wasn’t available so was served with smoked salmon instead, it was ok but could’ve been at least salmon sashimi? The scallops were ok too. But the deep fried, burnt sausages my 7 yr old was served and the burnt nuggets my 5yr old was served was not ok. The boiled scotch fillet, and duck/rice soup (duck and mushroom risotto) were also not ok. It was so runny the young girl spilt it over the table as she placed it in front of me. I returned the risotto and refused to pay for it, which I have never had to do before. The false advertising online and very poor quality food was disappointing. Even with the return of my main, it still came to $110.

Beautifully done seafood marinara pasta with generous amount of seafood. Enjoyed the slight spice which definitely complements the rich tomato- based sauce. However the pasta was on the soft side. We also ordered the confit duck and it was great, tasty and the meat falls off the bone yet retaining crispy skin. The only issue was it took quite long about 30 min for us to get our dinner after ordering.

Just going to be honest, food was nice. Manager was very polite and was lovely and helpful. We have kids with us, when we walked in every single person was staring as us, like we not supposed to be there. Not the restaurants fault at all of course. Asked for ice cream for the kids we saw they had cream and sprinkles. Thought we ordered that didn't get what we wanted which was a misunderstanding which is not a big deal at all. But said to the waiter "sorry I think we misunderstood, we would like the cream and sprinkles on the ice cream" she was extremely rude at this point saying it's our fault of not specifying that, which it was correct but it was how much of a big deal she made of it, made my partner and myself feel very uncomfortable and we didn't want to eat our meals anymore and left. Service from one of the waiters was amazing and the other one quite the opposite. I don't care if you are in a bad mood just don't vent it out on...
