We arrived after the evening rush on a Saturday non-school holiday night. The restaurant was very busy but several tables opened and we were seated within a few minutes.

The atmosphere was largely provided by the clamour of numerous patrons enjoying their night. I didn't notice any particularly elaborate settings or decorations that otherwise added to the ambience.

Our water order was taken immediately and drink order taken reasonably quickly especially given the restaurant was so busy. We ordered our meals as we ordered the drinks because orders were being placed at a large table nearby and thought we'd try get in front of their order.

The wine selection was good and there were numerous cocktails available including a selection of daily specials for both.

My Chicken Satay Skewers were fine, the chicken tender well spiced though I prefer a chunkier less blended satay sauce with more flavour. They came with an additional rice wine vinegar sauce (?) that was better than the satay.

The Duck Red Curry was excellent. The flavour balance was as good as I've had for many years with a generous portion of roasted duck and (thankfully) vegetables.

The Prik Kingh stir fry with Tofu and Vegetables (gluten free) was a generous well flavoured serving.

We didn't see anyone complaining during our time at the restaurant and though staffing was tight thought it was fine for a suburban restaurant on a busy Saturday night.

Although there weren't any of the modern interpretations of Thai cooking were seeing increasingly at Brisbane restaurants like Ping Pong and Same Same it was still a great meal and we'd go back, especially for the...

A usual Thai favourite! I have contiually recommended this restaurant for all the right reasons. We have come here many times to experience the delicious food, super fresh seafood options and incredible taste and all round dining experience. Unfortunately, it seems the impact of Covid and staffing issues (no chefs) across the industry have landed here at Mahsuri while the prices have stayed high. Served by 3 separate waitresses we communicated that we would like to order slow as we had a couple of hours to relax. After waiting 15 minutes we re-ordered the glass of wine that did not arrive (very generous portion a positive). We decided to share 2 entrees of coconut prawns ($17 for 4) and steamed dim Sims. Both were disappointingly bland and tasted as they were straight from the freezer to the air fryer. There was nothing enjoyable about these dishes (as good as a shopping centre foodcourt customer might expect). We then shared the special main of duck & fried rice ($30). Again it was very underwhelming and tasted oily and as though it came straight out of the packet with a coating of oil. The duck was tasteless and skin not crispy and the scattering of vegetables were akin to frozen. While I support local business and understand the impacts from Covid and staff shortages across the board, maintaining lower prices for significantly lower quality of food and service might make for a return customer. We were then rushed out and hastily offered our bill with the entire 'experience' lasting...

I would provide less than one star for this restaurant if possible.

This evening, in the grips of a pandemic and with an explosion of Australians now becoming infected with Covid-19, and on a SUPER super-spreader evening (New Years Eve) and with many people having yet to receive their recommended third vaccination, not one staff member in this restaurant was masked. When I spoke to the (assumed) manager about this, although all appeared to be fit young people I was told they were all exempt from wearing a mask. Realising the ridiculousness of what she had said, and fully aware of the risk this posed for the public, I was then told that she could not have her staff fainting as a result of having to wear a mask for the duration of their shift. When I asked her to please have the staff put their masks on she told me they would not be doing so and demanded that I leave the premises because she had other customers to attend to.

Throughout the pandemic I have never witnessed such a display of disregard for the law and lack of concern for the public and for other restauranteurs who have suffered so badly as a result of the pandemic. For this reason I recommend that would-be customers take their business elsewhere and support restaurants who clearly wish to abide by the law and who make their customers' and fellow Australians'...

I’m a little angry. 150 dollars worth angry. $12 for 1 container of rice angry… Having worked as a chef in a Thai restaurant before, THIS food is definitely not authentic Thai food. They are trying to sell it as Thai food but it’s really like Chinese style. Look I can’t talk for the rest of the menu but 4 dishes arnt Thai like. Peanut sauce has not one peanut in it, it’s like bought in jimmy’s sate paste and added coconut cream. Not hot house made for sure except for stir frying it together. Duck is an oily protein but a 10mm layer of oil on the top of the stir is not appetising and it’s not like the dish name suggests. (where’s the Thai basil guys) I could go on with Pad Thai and mussaman curry. They used puff pastry as roti. It’s a shame sunshine and Danny closed their restaurant in coolangatta. Sorry guys you lost a local customer

The recipe for a 5 star review isn’t complicated. Greet your customer with a smile, get their order right, and deliver reasonable value. I had a feeling we might not be heading for the five stars when there was no smile or pleasantries from Chantel behind the eftpos machine. If I’m paying $24 for a basic pad thai (takeaway!) the service should at least be friendly. The wait for the meal was reasonable given the restaurant was about 25% full - I waited about 15 minutes. Then I walked home and discovered no sauce supplied with the spring rolls as advertised. Not the end of the world but not acceptable either. Food was as you’d expect - tasty but nothing fancy. Overall either the service could improve, or the prices should drop, especially for takeaway. Not good value.
