Could be better, but will return. The crumpets were nice and tasted good, but the base was quite tough. Despite this it was refreshing to try something different and "from left field". The lemon myrtle butter was delicious. The hash brown was hot and tasty. The coffee was good. Although I didn't have the opportunity to try other menu items the variety and flavours looked interesting - more than your standard bacon&egg roll. Service wise- Upon arrival we stood awkwardly for about 3 minutes, while multiple staff stared through us, we eventually were able to flag a staff member down to ascertain if we could just pick a table, or if they would seat us, as different cafes have different ways of doing things. (It was not busy in the cafe). By 1125 we sat, and were then handed menus that said "ALL DAY". After we were seated and settled, we were told the kitchen closes in 5 minutes (as in, 1130). We were rushed but managed to order in time. It was also a bit disconcerting when staff started packing up chairs and furniture around us despite the cafe still being open. Finally, I was charged a card surcharge without being told (or given an opportunity to pay a different way), and only found out when I later checked my account statement, as the payment screen only shows the non surcharge price - Note: I don't have a problem with surcharges, just not...
Read moreWe had "eggs how you like them" + sausage + haloumi as well as the pancakes + fruit, and banana and mango madness shakes. The food was excellent. Haloumi cheese was great, sausages were quite small for a $5 addon, but tasty. Scrambled eggs were a little bland but cooked well. The pancakes were quite thick, and the raspberry jam or filling on top was very good and nice and sweet. They came with a side of cream and syrup, and as a Canadian, I can claim their "Canadian Maple Syrup" was fairly legit. The shakes were not very sweet, which was ok, considering how sweet my pancakes with all the toppings were. I spent $46 which I think is the most I've ever spent on breakfast before, but the food was very good. 4 stars instead of 5 because of the price. But maybe it's just more expensive in this area...
Read moreThis is a very busy cafe, particularly on a Sunday, the reason is evident when you have your breakfast and the delicious coffee. There is plenty of alfresco seating, unlimited filtered still or sparkling water on tap and very friendly service. Because it is so busy breakfast takes a while to serve, the wait is worth it see photo attached. Fresh garnishes, runny eggs, buttery toasted sourdough and packed full of flavour, this was the first highlight. The second is the coffee, a rich and dark chocolaty coffee that left a pleasant light after taste on the palate that I didn't want to wash away with the sparkling water. Bypass the grungy pub and the faux French pastiserie, this is the place to go and be seen, it will not disappoint. Apology for earlier...
