This was our 2nd time visiting the Kingsley.. The 1st time, the food was incredible!! But sadly, the starters menu has changed, so we couldn't order the same starters as last time..which was Pork belly bites. Duck spring rolls and something else (can't remember what it was)
We decided to order the Pork Belly main $30, and the Lamb Gnocchi $27
We were really disappointed with both..
The Gnocchi in particular, as it was VERY dry, there was next to no juices through it, and a very tiny amount of pulled lamb.. we did ask if this was the amount of lamb that was served throughout the meal, and the answer was yes..
The Pork was also lacking.. There was about a tablespoon of smeared mashed Sweet potato underneath 1 portion of Pork belly, the top was very thin, with no crackle.. it was just chewy skin.. the ratio of vege to meat was completely out.. and we basically ate bits of Pork with a few bits of bean shoots Definitely wouldn't order again, as the price just did not justify the portions for both meals..
Also, we sat outside near the play area.. during our meal, a patron entered with a HUGE black furry dog... About 3 or 4 waitresses came out to greet the dog, petting in, stirring up dog hair that floated around, landing on our table and plate.. The patron tied the dog to the umbrella next to us, and went inside.. leaving this huge dog free to circle on about 2mtres of lead, under our table, sniffing the table edge, under our feet while we tried to eat...and what made it worse, was one of the waitresses was carrying someone's meal, that she then delivered to their table after stopping, with the meal in hand, petting this dog.. Not one the waitresses cared about the hygiene side of things, and it was extremely off putting.. We don't hate dogs, but we do think that there should be a designated area away from people that are eating.. The overall experience was just really...
Read moreI have never had a decent meal here but my mum is local so often family gatherings are booked here. The menu is extremely limited with very little choice. The menu needs to include a picture as what comes out is always a shock. My mum ordered the beetroot and goats cheese tart...sounded good....it came out and it was a big plate stacked with tinned beetroot slices, 3 walnuts and a spoon of goats cheese.....where was the pastry? We found a round soggy piece of pastry buried under the stack of tinned beetroot....spalling for a chef to send that out. I ordered the chicken which was an undercooked tasteless leg of chicken swimming in a swamp of tasteless gravy and unseasoned polenta....the chicken was raw near the bone and the swamp of gravy it was sitting in has zero flavour, no seasoning. My husband ordered the pork chop with buttered greens...the pork chop had a putrid smell and was clearly off and the buttered greens looked like overcooked frozen veg...he took the pork chop back as he would of gotten sick if he has eaten more than the bite he took (which tastes rancid). The staff member who took it back apologised profusely offered a replacement meal and a free drink, he was trying to rectify the situation and his efforts were appreciated. My sister and her husband had the lamb ragu which they enjoyed. We asked that our meals come out at once but my daughter's was brought out half an hour before all the other meals some of which were cold. So she had finished her meal before we got ours. The front of house staff were lovely but the chef needs a massive kick up the behind for sending out rotting, tinned and tasteless food and the menu needs to offer more food options. I really hope no more family events are booked here as I really don't ever...
Read moreRating: ★★ I recently visited this restaurant on a Sunday, hoping for a pleasant dining experience with my family, including my father-in-law who has celiac disease. Unfortunately, we were left disappointed by the lack of attention given to our dietary accommodations. Upon arrival, we informed our waitress about my father-in-law's dietary restrictions and were assured that they would be able to accommodate his needs. However, to our dismay, once the food arrived at our table, it was evident that the kitchen staff had not taken into account his condition. In addition to the lack of consideration for dietary accommodations, another issue we encountered was the temperature of the food. It disappointingly arrived at our table cold, further adding to our overall dissatisfaction with the experience. While the restaurant had a promising ambiance and the waitstaff were friendly, these aspects alone do not overshadow the considerable misstep in regard to allergen accommodations and the cold food. For those with special dietary needs, I would caution against relying on this establishment to adequately address those requirements. However, for individuals without dietary restrictions, the ambiance and attentive waitstaff might make for a more enjoyable dining experience. Please note that this review is based solely on my personal experience, and others may have had different encounters at this restaurant. I hope that your future dining experiences are more...
