Kyneton RSL — Restaurant in Kyneton

My partner ordered a Gluten Free meal due to being a celiac. When the meal came out we asked if it was GF, the waiter shrugged, said "I don't know", put the plate down in front of her and walked away. After eating a few bites my partner was dubious. I spoke to the staff and they straight up lied to me and said no one ordered a GF even though we specifically asked for it. They then checked with the kitchen who said the meal is GF but not "Celiac friendly". Which make zero sense. I went back to my girlfriend who was getting worried because she ate a few chips already, she asked me to check if they're GF or not. When I walked up to the bar again both staff refused to make eye contact and serve me for a good few minutes even though there was no other customers. I asked if the chips are GF and they replied "no", that's when the kitchen staff rushed out some roast potatoes and took away the chips.

My family and I had the pleasure of enjoying afternoon tea and dinner at the Kyneton RSL on Sunday the 15th of June 2025. My family and I are not locals to the area so this was the first time we were able to enjoy the wonderful customer service of the staff at the RSL. The staff were fantastic catering for everything we needed. The food was second to none, absolutely delicious, excellent serving size and value for money. I would like to say a very sincere thank you to the staff at the RSL and congratulate them for their Excellence in Customer Service. We will definitely be dining there again next time we are in town. Had a wonderful Monday lunch with family. Take note that there is only one vegetarian option (eggplant parma) but it was the best one I've had at a restaurant.

I would have loved another handful of the wonderfully crispy chips but considering it was $22 for a main and dessert I thought the portion sizes of both courses were very generous and I probably could not have fit them in anyway!
