I do hate to be negative but our experience at Pollen really didn’t have much positive about it. Firstly, if your main thing to serve is Banh Mi and not much else- please have enough rolls to last the day!! We went in at 1.20pm and were told they didn’t have any rolls left- disappointing but there was also two toastie options to choose from. After ordering the toasties we waited for about 50 minutes and decided to leave before they arrived as we just didn’t have time to wait all day and the people who came in to the cafe after us got their toasties 10 minutes before hand. 1 star for the cafe and courtyard, it was quite cute and cozy however the vibe was ruined by rude staff. I understand places can have off days, especially when they are short staffed, but our experience was just ridiculous. Hopefully we can go back and try some actual Ba Minh one day, in a...
Read moreI haven't posted this review because I feel so badly about it. I really really wanted to love this as Bun (vermicelli noodle salad) and Banh Mi are my favourite foods, and there is no where else to get Vietnamese in Kyneton. I had medium expectations and was utterly disappointed. The Bun was stone cold, and had very little pork. The pork that was there was not tasty. I've never had dead cold Bun before, so I did not enjoy it. The Banh Mi bread was weird, it was entirely too sweet, and not even vaguely crunchy. Banh Mi bread should be crunchy!!! The flavours were just not popping. The only positive was that there was plenty of coriander. The shop feels very nice and the lady was friendly. But I am so disappointed and definitely will...
Read moreI dropped into Pollen on ANZAC afternoon. I thought myself lucky to find an open cafe. I was hoping at best for a cup of tea after a very wet cycling trip. Instead I was greeted by a welcoming vibe and the very friendly lady owner. She took great care with my order and brewed my tea to perfection. I was beyond delighted with their vast array of their mostly home made, gluten free cakes, muffins and slices. I enjoyed the carrot cake and I even came back two days later to buy a bag of these cakes to take home for my freezer. I so wish that this was my local cafe. I will be back, keep up the...
