The service at this place really let it down.
My sister and I were on a road trip down to Melbourne and stayed two nights at the Esplanade. We arrived hungry after a 4 hour drive and were recommended this place. So we may have been "hangry".
The menu on the wall as well as on the app said "All day menu". We sat down at one of the outdoor tables and realised that the orders were by QR code. This was around 2:50pm. We made our choices and placed the order only to be told that the kitchen closes at 3pm. We were little surprised and tried to give some feedback to the waitress, who's response was and aggressive " Do you want to talk to the manager?" We decided to move on.
The next day, for the lack of nearby cafes, we decided to give this place another go. This time we arrived around 10am. Once again we sat at one of the tables outside the cafe. No staff came to see us from us sitting down to the point of bringing our food down, so we ordered via QR code.
While waiting (and it took a while) we watched the staff bring out food to other customers not knowing which table it belonged to, bringing food at various different times to the one table etc.
My sisters coffee arrived 5 minutes before mine, and my cappuccino was spilled all over the plate. The food also did not arrive together. Once we had the food we had to ask for cutlery.
I ordered the "Atlantic", which was meant to be poached eggs, gin infused salmon, avocado, 'caviar' etc. on a sourdough. For $32.
Well, when the plate arrived there was no 'caviar' to be seen. But no one told me that they were out of it. I then went inside and asked about it and was told that they were out. No apology or that they would refund the difference, just that they were out. When I insisted, they did however give me $10 back.
The food was really good and I feel the management probably doesn't have their eye on the wait staff. I hope this review helps...
Read moreWe booked a stay at Bellevue on the Lakes through Qantas Holidays and decided to have breakfast on our first morning at this conveniently located restaurant downstairs. Ordering via the QR code on the table was easy BUT - after more than 20 minutes of waiting there was no sign of our order. I wanted to make sure the order had actually been received and approached the counter where several members of staff totally ignored me for several minutes (yes it was busy but that’s a poor excuse). Finally I decided to approach the lady behind the coffee machine who was very dismissive and rude, showing no interest in finding out what was happening with our order, except for showing me that she had our coffee order and telling me that the coffees would come out with the food as ordered - ‘Have you got your food yet? No? The coffees will come with the food.’ Fair enough but all I wanted to know was whether that was likely to happen soon as we had somewhere to be but apparently they are busy enough to not need to care about customer service. I went back to our table and after another 10 minutes our food finally arrived but no sign of our coffees. We waited 5 minutes thinking they must surely be coming but no. Another member of our party went to the same staff member to ask where the coffees were - ‘you got your food?’ was the curt response. At this point we had mostly finished our food and were considering asking for the coffees to be made into takeaways when they finally arrived. No regrets expressed or apologies offered at any point. Needless to say, will not be returning to this place. A shame really because the granola I had was probably the best I’ve had anywhere but I’d rather spend my money where I’m treated with...
Read moreOne of the most unpleasant experiences I had ever. There was only a group of two ahead of me waiting to be seated, and I am at the end of the queue. The person who served them, whom I recognized from the default photo when searching for this café, engaged in very friendly conversations with them. The restaurant is not full, as there was an unused table that could accommodate 12 people, the same person instructed me to go to the bar and grab a stool without providing any guidance. Once I sat down, no one seemed to care about my presence. I waited patiently for about 10 minutes and then asked a lady with arm tattoos for a menu. Surprisingly, she immediately asked me to pay for the bill upfront after taking my order. I found another table nearby approaching the counter to pay their bill. I wonder what had happened to the good reviews regarding the food and service, or if I was being discriminated against by both staff members. For the food, I ordered the chili chorizo scramble eggs with an extra hash brown, along with a chai latte. The chorizo was finely chopped to the point where it was barely noticeable in flavour and quantity. It was accompanied by only three half cherry tomatoes and topped with Laoganma crispy chili oil, a condiment available at Woolies. Although the hash brown seemed to be from frozen and not homemade, it was at least fried properly. On the positive side, the chai latte was bursting with flavour, which was a definite win. Considering the extremely unwelcoming experience I had at this place, I will never return and...
