Booked an area for a Birthday function - 100% WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. I have to give two stars because the booking process and correspondence with the function manager was very easy and very professional. As for the actual night, really disappointed in staff particularly security. Drinks on arrival were delicious and bar manager/contact was wonderful. Multiple incidences happened however where people who were not known to the party came into the area, after being asked nicely to leave, unknown people became aggressive and security (stationed on the inside of the venue) would not address concerns. You pay the money and go through the booking process to have the area exclusively for your guests, it should not be something guests continuously have to manage rather than enjoying the party. The people coming in to our area were CLEARLY not invited and made a lot of the girls uncomfortable (was a 24th birthday, older drunk men from Man U game situation). Security honestly seemed to be concerned with literally everything else rather than doing their jobs. At one point security began to yell at each other in front of party, threw the whole vibe off and was really disappointing and quite frankly embarrassing - left early and had we have not carried on and found and another venue night would have been ruined.

Edit - after reading more reviews further down I saw similar comments and I have to change to 1 star as I think it should be known how much of an issue this is. Book at...

At approximately 8:30 pm on the 22nd May 2025 I arrived at The Garden to attend a pre purchased event hosted by an online group called Thursday Singles. I purchased a drink at the bar and walked around trying to locate the group. I noticed a group of people towards the back in a roped off area guarded by a male insecurity officer. I asked whether I could enter. He denied the request. He stated that I needed to enter via another outside entrance (not the Garden venue). I asked whether I could take my drink with me. He said no but suggested I leave it with him on a bench. I walked outside and due to technical issues with my phone was unable to download the ticket. However after sourcing the receipt from my Bank on my phone showed him the proof of purchase. He was disinterested. As this was another typical set up I walked back into the Garden. Immediately 2 male insecurity officers approached me and threatened assault. They were intimidating and threatening. I asked for their name which was refused. DON’T GO THERE! BULLYING, FRAUDULENT MEN INSECURITY! DUTY OF CARELESS...

Atmosphere is nice, very relaxed. But the food and pricing I found outrageous for what we got.

The pizza was $26-28, and was so soggy and base was completely undercooked (bbq chicken I believe), and was also a very small size compared to what other restaurants serve for a similar price nearby. The bowl of chips was on the small side for the price and had barely been salted and couldn’t see any salt to do it ourselves. And disappointingly the rhubi spritz was overpriced ($19 for 1 shot of 18% alcohol, with lemon and mandarin soda…so not even prosecco?) and you couldn’t even taste the rhubarb liquer in it, plus a substantial amount of ice. The adjoining garden has a much nicer cocktail selection and while it is still pricey it at least has more than one shot per $19 drink.

Maybe we just had bad luck the night we went? And it wasn’t so bad that I would refuse to go back, but I certainly wouldn’t order those items again and given the option I would definitely opt for ‘the garden’ section over the hotel/pub.

Staff however seemed friendly so...

Poor food, poor management. After announcing some World Cup games ate the venue, we went there to watch Brazil x Croatia. At first they would like to put the game just in a small tv for a crowd of people that went there, after the manager promised to have the game on "big screens". When they noticed that there were too many people and after so many complains, they turned on a second small tv. But the worst was to come. Before the Penalties, when everybody was sitting, a SECURITY GUARD turned off both tvs, went there, and threatened all patrons as criminals, telling us we should behave ourselves (in a very racist manner), to drink as faster as we could our drinks and put the glass on the bar. Everybody was sitting at the time, and we couldn't understand why he was asking that, without any explanation. The bar staff were friendly but seemed exhausted making drinks all night, and this isn't the patrons' fault, since the management should get more staff on a very busy Friday night. Ridiculous. For sure, thus is the worst venue in Leederville.

Decided to try their Wednesday steak special after walking past their sign outside one day. The place is quite dim inside, really struggled to see clearly or even to browse the menu. They had quiz night when we visited which was pretty fun to just sit and watch/listen. The steak was quite impressive, cooked to perfection (other than rarer than requested i.e. medium = medium rare, medium rare = rare) but it was still the perfect texture and tenderness. The sauce was absolutely amazing. They only offer mushroom or peppercorn options, both were delicious but mushroom was definitely my favourite. The chips were very crispy and salad very fresh which also includes some cucumber rather than just leafy greens. The Hot Wings were tasty but definitely is on the spicy side in case you are unable to take spiciness. Although the steak special is more pricey than other places on offer, it is definitely worth it when you compare the quality. We will definitely be returning for more steak special nights.

We went to Boombox Bingo, which was great fun. One complaint from our "cohort" was that it moved rather slowly. Quicker with the songs 🎵 so there's not so much "dead" time. Then we come to the food and service. We ordered the steak special. Our orders were completely messed up. My rare steak with mushroom sauce was cold and NOT rare. My partner's medium steak with pepper sauce was cold and rare. Hmmm... We both ate a bit and then went, "No, this isn't going to work." My partner flagged down a staff member who said he'd have to get the manager. Firstly, the manager affirmed that the steaks "couldn't possibly have been cold." Then said he was "extremely busy." He then proceeded to take selfies 🤳 with other patrons! His definition of "extremely busy" clearly differs from mine. 45 minutes later, we finally got replacement meals, which were delicious 😋. We've re-booked for the next Boombox Bingo. Fingers crossed 🤞 it's a better experience than the last time.
