We’ve been visiting Fishy Fishy whenever we’re down at Lennox (which is regularly) since it first opened. We’ve recommended it friends and even taken visitors from overseas there.
Sadly, we don’t think we’ll be back as the quality of both the food and service have declined significantly.
Earlier this week we took family members there as they had heard us talking about how good it was. When we ordered we found out that we couldn’t order the Cod grilled as, according to the lady serving us, all the Cod came in already crumbed or battered. As my wife is Coeliac, neither of this is an option so she had to order grilled Hoki whilst the rest of us had the Cod.
The Cod was, at best, acceptable but nowhere near what we have come to expect over the years and certainly nowhere near as good as many other places that we have been. The Hoki was bland and the portion was very small. Certainly not what you’d expect from a place that presents itself as a premium seafood place.
The Calamari was rubbery and still had the outer membrane on, something we haven’t experienced for years. We left feeling very underwhelmed and apologising to our guests.
Oh, did I mention the chips? There’s a reason for that.
Today we went back on store to simply buy some Salad. The young staff member took our order though she didn’t seem particularly happy about it. We then sat for nearly 25 minutes waiting for it. Yes, they were certainly very busy so initially didn’t want to make a fuss. At during our wait though, the staff member who took our order, had time to restock the display fridge where the salad was also kept. At the point when someone who ordered a cooked meal, after us, was given their meal one of the cooks finally noticed us and asked what we were waiting for (just as we were standing to find out what was happening).
He couldn’t believe we hadn’t received it and at least he was apologetic and gave us a whole salad rather than the half that we had ordered.
Sadly, these two experiences mean that we won’t be back to Fishy Fishy again. Life is too short for below average food...
Read moreProbably the worst fish meal ever. Ordered 6 pieces of grilled whiting, 10 Prawn Cutlets, chose 1 tail piece of "selected Reef" fish intimated as Red Emperor or similar and 10 pieces of Calamari + a salad.. Upon receiving the meals, the whiting was crumbed but probably Mullet due to the size of the fillets..Questioned this and was shown a different fish from different display cabinet. Assured me it was whiting.. Right. Showed him a fillet undisguised and suggested they shouldn't serve this as whiting as it obviously wasn't. The Calamari pieces were the size of a 20c piece and rubbish. The tail piece of reef fish selected was rubbery and overcooked, struggled to pull it apart and it wasn't a tail piece. Terrible.. Switched?? Didn't even get the Prawn Cutlets but was told I wasn't charged for them anyway.. The bill was $70+ .. right... The salad was ok. Didn't raise a fuss with the young staff, just left shaking my head and wondering why....Disappointed and wont be...
Read moreDaylight robbery charging those prices for frozen food. Paid $40 for two tiny kids sized boxes with an extra fish that was $8 but was so incredibly dry once I got past the crumb there was barely any fish in there + I saw the tiny portions of chips that the surely underpaid depressed looking girl pulled out of each tiny frozen bags, individually portioned, which, the plastic use doesn't make sense to me from a business perspective? When I worked at my local corner store we would get them in bigger batches and be able to sell our customers on average 5x (at $6) what I was sold here for $14 , you cannot excuse your other bad reviews saying "we have champagne service and beer service" when the beer service food is this trash. Literally drove from Byron just to see if there was anywhere left that did some good ol fashioned fish and chips not at $20 a head. Whatever happened to $20 feeding the family? I get that there's inflation, but this is...
