I was drawn to try this place by the almost 'across the board' 5 star reviews. After my experience today, they deserve every star. From the welcome by the waitress, through the superbly poured coffee, to the delicious and expertly plated food, I can only agree. We both had the Yam. One with chicken, one with house cured salmon. My wife's comment, "This is the tastiest lunch I've had for a long time!" was spot on. The house cured salmon is undoubtedly the best I've had, with a distinct gravalax flavour. The Nam bowl contents could border on being a touch on the " too much pickle" had it not been for the splendid whole portobello mushroom and the exquisite rice tuille, which added a tasty crunch. The crunch of the sparingly added popped black rice was a master-stroke.
We were fortunate to have arrived when we did because they close at 1.30 on a Monday.

Read moreWalked into Goanna cafe immediately greeted with a warm smile something that noticed lacked as we walked along the main strip of Lennox Head in search of a warm and welcoming place for lunch. Then we found the gem of Goanna cafe. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing. Healthy, good produce and presented beautifully. My partner and I were also very impressed with our meals. We ordered the Poke bowls one vegan and one with salmon which the chef brought out to us, again with such a welcoming smile. Upon leaving we had a wonderful chat with the staff and they gave us free cookies for our bike ride home. Highly, highly recommended Goanna Cafe to anyone visiting Lennox Head. We will definitely be coming back soon for...

However it took an exceptional amount of time for the simplest coffee order imaginable; two long blacks.
First coffee was ready after 11 minutes and second one took another 4 minutes. In that time there were two baristas working that made 3 other coffees and 1 hot chocolate.
Yes there was an explanation of "wanting to get it right for you guys", but getting your grinder dialed-in or basic staff training completed should probably happen before you open for trade. Certainly not in between two identical simple coffees on...
