Browns Plains Hotel — Restaurant in Logan City

We had a terrible experience here tonight for my son-in-laws birthday. First it started with them telling us they had no record of our booking, that was fine, they fit us in anyway… We had a table of 9. We made 3 separate orders for our table at the counter. After a short while my son and daughter-in-laws food came out (the rest of us ordered BEFORE them) As they were nearly finished, we enquired where our meals were? We hadn’t even seen the entree yet! It had now been 55 minutes. The table on both sides of us who had arrived after us had both finished. We called the wait staff over and asked where our meals were, he gave us a vacant look and said ‘I’ll go find out’ 5 minutes later and still no update. We again approached the counter and enquired where our food was, nobody was able to give a direct answer! 5 minutes later (and with a very hungry 4 year old) they tell us there was a mistake and our order hadn’t been passed through, another 15 minutes and 3 orders come out, but still no order for the birthday boy (son-in-law) my daughter and my 4 year old grandson. Again we enquired where their food was, again the staff look perplexed! By this time the night was absolutely ruined. They refunded my daughter and son in law and gave them their meals to take home, along with the cupcakes we bought for said birthday. They offered us free desserts which my son and daughter-in-law took up ( the desserts never came!) To top it off, when my daughter got home they had put bacon in the chicken salad that she had specifically requested to have omitted! The whole night was a disaster as they could not seem to get anything right! Very disappointed. Despite asking to speak to the manager, no manager came to our table. We were offered a dinner voucher which they said they would email (I guess we will see if they get that right) at this point I won’t...

Updating my review - it's a year since we went here and had a terrible meal. We went back this week to give it another go and was nearly blown away at how much this has improved. The meals were absolutely delicious, the menu has great variety (it was hard to choose just one meal), and the staff (as always) provided great service. I had barramundi with roasted chat potatoes and an avocado cream sauce. The serving was so generous I couldn't finish it (so took home to finish the next day). My friend had Italian parm, and also had to take some home. I can't believe this is the same place! Definitely on my list of the top places to eat in the area - delicious food and good value in a very pleasant dining area. Ony fair to update this because it's like a different place to the one in my review from last year.

My original review: Three of us went for dinner as we've done many times over the past few years and were looking forward to trying the new menu. One ordered carbonara with bacon - it was so greasy she could only stomach a few mouthfuls, like the sauce had split. One ordered a seafood basket, it came with prawns in the shell and no way to clean fingers after having to shell the prawns. The battered fish was so oily she had to take the batter off and eat the fish inside. The potato scallops oozed oil when she cut them so they also weren't eaten. The third ordered spare ribs - they were cooked with the membrane on and were just tasteless. Has to be the worst meal we've ever had there, so disappointing. My first impressions of this place is the staff are quite blunt and abrupt and seem to have no time for you no matter what they're doing, even if they're just standing around talking with each other, I was inquiring about the menu at the bistro and the lady was quite rude as I was asking her about the menu she states at me, "it's all we've got that's what we've got" oh...k. and after that rude encounter i have another with a staff member inside. I decided to use the vending machine with my younger son as there was nothing supplied before 11:30am, the placement of the vending machine is in the doorway between the bar and the game room I went to use and a staff member approached me and started ranting and raving and carrying on about A Current Affair ! as I then proceed to say I don't watch the news I don't care for tv, then he requested me to leave my son outside the doors!! I am well aware kids are not allowed in that area but I am also aware that this day & age you don't leave children out of arm's length as Society seems to have a lot of sick people that take advantage of that. I feel the club is lacking in a lot of areas- politeness, courtesy, customer service, the most important parts of running any business, on top of incorrect facilities like vending machines in a places that are not accessible to everybody, in the end of it we have decided not to purchase food from here and they're lucky to get my money for the vending machine I will not recommend this place, I will not come back ever again!! hopefully, in the future they have management that takes over and teaches correct service and fixes...
