Appalling. First impression: ugh - the table is sticky and signs of dried liquid (sticky table is mentioned in another review). The food prep area/servery is in full view of some of the tables - including the one we sat on. I watched the guy in the kitchen dress the salad on my fish meal on the middle shelf of the servery - first observation - no food handling gloves. He was completing the salad with cucumbers and onions with no gloves. I then watched him scratch his nose, rub around his nasal area. REALLY? A supposedly trained kitchen staffer can do that? In the middle of a pandemic? In full view of the lounge and think that’s acceptable?
Next observation - the guy is eating and drinking behind the servery while he continues to prepare food. It was at that point I decided I would not be eating the meal which had been placed at the table. These things are a clear breach of even the most basic of hygienic kitchen practice.
Third observation: the meal size is ridiculous. Two very slim pieces of fish , a small pile of chips and a hastily (and unhygienically prepared) salad is outrageous for the money being asked. $18 ? Out of the question. It was a $10-12 entree at best.
Lastly , the person behind the counter did not want to hear the complaint. Didn’t want to listen - I was offering to pay for the coke and smoothie. I was asked to “just go” and “why are you shouting. I was shouting because the food handler had strutted out of the kitchen and started having a go at me over the fact I didn’t want to pay for the meal. The guy is a hygiene risk. He is ignorant of the most basic of clean kitchen practice. It begs the question does he even know how to store food safely let alone prepare it.
I’ll be reporting this to Queensland Health. And yes, I’m a local, I won’t be back and will be telling everyone in the area about the the total lack of expertise and service...
Read moreI decided to take my mother out for brunch Saturday morning. I had an idea to go to Degani's in Beenleigh as it had a good reputation from the one in Loganholme.
We waited and got served by a waitress and took us to a dirty table which we got told that it would be wiped down. We waited at least 10-15 minutes to get served. We then thought that maybe we had to go up to the counter and order. I went up to the counter to order and they said that I needed to be seated to be ordered.
One of the staff apologised and explained that they were busy. The cafe had a fair amount of people there, but there were now plenty of tables empty from people eating and leaving. We reminded them that the table still needed to be cleaned.
We ordered drinks and food and waited another 10 minutes for our drinks, which were just sitting at the counter to be served. I ordered a tea which was given to me half full and with the tea bag out of the tea pot. I was a bit confused, and asked the waitress for a bit more hot water.
My mother and I then waited over 45 minutes for our food while the cafe was now very empty. I felt so disappointed, and we had an appointment to go to. We didn't have enough time for our food to be served, let alone even eat our meals.
Very disappointed and uninterested in returning.
Anyone thats interested in having a great breakfast around the area, you should go try the Little Elm Cafe in Ormeau. They serve an...
Read moreI have a Senior Discount card which was shown to the young lady operating the till at the time of order, however she forgot to take off the discount. (The bill came to $48.) When I queried this, she told me she didn’t think she could give me the discount once I’d paid. I asked her to check this as she didn’t seem at all sure. She checked with the ‘barista’ who I assume was the manager and was told no, not possible. That was fine, mildly annoying but no big deal - BUT - as I walked back to my table the ‘barista’ shouted at me across the room saying I should have shown my card before I paid. Because I in fact did do this, I returned to inform her of this and went back to my table. A bit later the young lady came over with $1 and started to explain something but again the female making the coffee yelled across the room ‘just give it to her’ and proceeded to shout something else at me that I didn’t catch. When I objected to being yelled at she shouted that she was trying to explain…which the young lady had been trying to do until mouth almighty took over. Never going to set foot inside here again….although that’s no hardship, the coffee...
