Feast Restaurant — Restaurant in Logan City

We had a groupons deal so thought we would check it out and what a nightmare. first we were told when booking that we only had a 2 hour block to eat in. We chose the 5-7pm but when we got there we were confronted with a line up of about a hundred people and the doors were closed (this was 4:50pm). By the time we got in and seated it was close to 5:30pm with about 150 people lined up behind us. (PS I am a CEO of an entertainment company and really good at guesstimating line sizes so not even exaggerating)

My little boy had to use the toilets and cut himself on the paper towel dispenser trying to find a paper towel (there was none), there was also no toilet paper in many of the stalls. I then asked at the front for a first aid person to get a band aid and some antiseptic. I was instructed to ask at the bar to where a girl who was nice but said she had no idea about first aid or who is one. After mucking around with that I eventually got the manager who explained the delay is because they have not idea how to handle that large amount of people coming in since they offered a deal on groupons, she stated there are 4 first aid people and not sure why none were informed or helped us. Anyway the troubles just started. the line up to get food was insane, literally taking 20 minutes of waiting due to them having most of the food in one long serving area. The line was so long it cut off the area you get your plates from (which they twice ran out of clean ones while we were there causing people to wait even longer) it cut off the refill soft drink and coffee stations and the toilets. Basically a design nightmare for customers to deal with. The food was hit and miss (again more organisational issues with them running out regularly of some of the food) The prawns were old and not that nice yet the cold mussels were good. Again with the hot food the roasts were decent but the whole fish was so over cooked it was the consistency of mashed potato. Along with the poor main foods the deserts were terrible especially the dense arrangement of cakes. In fact the only thing half decent were the profiteroles which funny enough were def not made fresh and were identical to the ones you buy in Woolies. The servers struggled to clear tables and the management managed to not only double book a lady I was talking to in line but our table as well. Double booking at least 2 tables and likely more shows really bad management and we were not even close to the next time slot either (although not sure how they work that as they were taking bookings and seating people all the way through. Anyway one little thing alone would not upset me but it was clear with so many complete stuff ups and the large amount of the menu that was cooked really poorly (or just been sitting for ages after being brought from somewhere else and then just put in) I have to thank Feast for being one of the worst Buffets I have experienced in the Country.

Really need to get there stuff together and if you cannot handle a heap of people then work out a strategy to A.) accommodate the surge in numbers or B.) open longer and have an extra block so you are not trying to squish so...

I have to give a 1 star because I can’t do the review without giving a star. & I very rarely do reviews because I think they can be harmful in some ways, but for one this I have to speak up. I will NEVER come back & NEVER recommend this place, not worth the $35 price per person. Cheep made meals, that I can prepare at home, mostly from pre-made frozen packet meals. The salt & pepper calamari Is definitely frozen, the pizza was like cardboard with cheese, the lasagne was dry & under cooked, couldn’t cut through it because the pasta wasn’t cooked, the meat was dry & not saucy, there was barely any béchamel source, if you would call it that on top, i think they used a shortcut & just put cheese on top. The chicken Parma, was very dry & over cooked, had a tasteless tomato purée on top from the bottle & a slice of cheese on top of that, the fish mornay tasteless, the Karaage chicken, wasn’t a karaage chicken, it was this wet dark glossy coating on the chicken with no crunch to it, which karaage chicken should have, & once again over cooked & very dry, there was this chicken legs dish, also tasteless like it had been blanched in a soy sauce dressing, the mussels just plain, no mussels in a spicy sauce or any thing special, the salad bar was nothing to write home about, the desserts well this was the ‘pièce de résistance‘, the apple crumble was half cooked the apple still crunchy, not saucy & very very dry. The bread & butter pudding was like eating toast not custard, which is traditionally a bread & butter pudding, the sticky date was stodgy & dry. The cream on the pavlova was off, & the chocolate mousse was a cheap packet powdered based chocolate mousse. The butterscotch sauce was a custard, & this is a new one to me Not made the traditional way from a caramel base type of sauce. The only things you didn’t get wrong, because you couldn’t was the ice cream & drinks. This is an honest critique from me, I felt that, Just everything was thrown together very cheaply & fast. OMG’ NO LOVE FOR THE FOOD OR THEIR ORIGINS AT ALL, I could go on & on. I work 7 days a week in food, & everything we do is made from scratch with love traditionally, my money doesn’t come to me easily, & when we eat out, we want to say this was worth the money we spent. I’ve been to another local buffet restaurant within 2 km of this place & it was slightly dearer @ $42.50 per person, but I would rather spend the extra $6.50 & dine there, fresh soft steaks, pizza cooked like it was from a pizza chef, meal’s cooked authentic from scratch fresh & cooked seafood, & their desserts were a whole level...

DISAPPOINTED

I took my children and friend for dinner after a year of not going to the Feast when we used to go for dinner there quite regularly. I made an online reservation as I have a 1 year old and a 3 month old which I would need seating space for a pram but when paying I thought the price had jumped up a lot since a year and didn’t match up with the prices listed on their website!! When I got home I called them to confirm the prices and explained I paid just over $160 for one adult and 3 children as the 1 year old is free (or what I thought)..the lady (manager on that night) agreed I had been over charged and told me to come back in over the weekend to collect my refund. As the feast is in the other side of town I didn’t end up going until a week later when I was actually over that way of town. When I arrived I spoke to a different person who claims he knows absolutely nothing about my refund…he had me waiting and standing around for about 45 mins just for me to give him my details and to be told he would call in a week and I would have AGAIN come over this way to collect my refund. He was rude and arrogant- I was made to feel like I wasn’t entitled to MY OWN money back. 3 WEEKS LATER STILL NO PHONE CALL AND STILL NO REFUND. We also went for the 5pm sitting and they closed off the eating area 45 mins prior to that sitting time to be finished - so if you are expecting to get your moneys worth and ripped off I suggest going to the second sitting so your children are not denied food their mother paid for and have a night out ruined..and double check your bank account before leaving. An actual disappointment of an experience and wouldn’t recommend...
