We were planning to have lunch in one Restaurant that we like but changed our mind; Thought we should try out this new place, Woka Woka in Underwood. Big mistake. Would give Zero Star if available.
It was a weekday noon, only a couple of tables, quite a big place so seemed pretty empty.
Didnt bother us as they have been there for a while (How did this happen?).
First the reception was lukewarm. Didnt mean for them to do a Song and Dance but perhaps a gentle greet? Had to ask for Menu...
Ordered a Lunch Special: Dry noodle with Roast Pork and Roast chicken, (supposed to) come with drink and soup.
Ordered a single dish Pineapple & Chicken Fried Rice for $1 cheaper, thinking it'd be good since there's no drink or Soup. Big mistake!
The Noodle was very small serve, extremely sweet, and not hot, just room temperature. The Roast Pork looked like was done 3-days ago if not weeks. The Chicken was just chicken. Perhaps the Vege is the best, it's green! Was surprised when they gave me the Ginger/Garlic Dip (I already took chili sauce which was kinda wasted). Had to remind them of the Soup which just look and taste like Dish Water.
We were god-smacked not knowing what to do. We were not brave enough to give feedback on the spot due to their demeanor. So went home hungry and upset.
Here's the biggest disappointment: The Friend Rice. It seem it was never "fried". At best it was stirred into some yellow coloring and mixed with the Rice. And then they drop in several pieces of chicken and shallots. The picture speaks a...
Read moreWe visited Woka Woka in Underwood recently, and while receiving our meal (which was terrible, by the way), we witnessed a shocking incident.
The chef came out of the kitchen and aggressively confronted a customer—a mother with a young child, likely under five years old. His behaviour was intimidating, aggressive and entirely unacceptable for a dining establishment. From what we could tell, it was over a misunderstanding or dispute about the meal. Still, regardless of the reason, no staff members initially stepped in to de-escalate the situation or offer an apology. The staff just stood there and let the chef continue dealing with the woman. There was one gentleman who tried speaking with her afterwards, but it was still a terrible effort. Absolutely shocking.
Our entire family felt for the mother and her child, but she did a great job standing up for herself. Nevertheless, no customer should ever be spoken to like that, especially in front of young, vulnerable children.
After receiving our meals, we completely understood why someone would dispute the food—it was awful. The quality was terrible, the flavours were bland and unappealing, and it is far from authentic Chinese cuisine. We didn't even finish our food, we had to leave.
On top of that, the tables were dirty, the ambiance was dreadful, and the overall experience was highly disappointing. It just felt gross to me.
Never going back! Do not waste your money here—there are far better places to eat with good food and...
Read moreThis was hands down the worst bowl of pho I’ve ever had in my life—no exaggeration. I don’t usually leave reviews, but this experience was disappointing on so many levels that I feel compelled to warn others.
First of all, the pho didn’t even come with basil—an essential herb that’s always served with traditional pho. What’s worse is that their menu and promotional images clearly show basil included, which feels misleading at best. I’ve never had pho without basil, and frankly, I wouldn’t have ordered it had I known they wouldn’t provide it.
Secondly, the lunch deal advertised outside said $11.90, but when I went to pay, the staff tried to charge me $17 something! I almost paid without noticing. When I questioned it, she looked confused and had to ask around, only to eventually say that the $11.90 price doesn’t include a drink. That’s fine—I don’t like it anyway!
The portion was also shockingly small—not even enough for a child to feel full. And the taste? It was a disaster! Frankly speaking, I would rather pay full price to have a better version and if you can’t offer the advertised deal properly, don’t promote it so visibly!
After sharing my experience with friends, I learned this wasn’t just bad luck—this place has a terrible reputation across the Chinese community. Locals have long stopped going; only newcomers or people unfamiliar with the area end up here. I wish I had known earlier.
To sum it up: don’t waste your time...
