Good friends of ours requested we head here for dinner - this is our experience.
Booking online was effortless, and I'm pleased we did as by the time we arrived, the place was considerably populated, reaching capacity not long afterwards. Typical KBBQ arrangement, being all you can eat. $59.90 plus a 10% weekend surcharge is on the steep side compared with other competing outlets in the area.
We were seated quickly after paying, and ventured to the buffet. One side contained hot items such as soup, tteokbokki and fried chicken. The middle row features meat, sauces and vegetables. The far side has a sushi bar (staffed by sushi chefs) and a bingsu machine. There's also a little DIY hotpot bar near the kitchen entrance.
The table featured a grill (unfortunately electric, not charcoal) and a hotpot burner that we didn't utilise. A reasonable amount of table space for a KBBQ outlet. Extraction fan worked well, but the grill was subpar - not much heat compared to other outlets.
Onto the food. The oxtail soup was wonderful - gelatinous and with a strong umami flavour (I suspect courtesy of added Dashida). Tteokbokki was watery but did feature fish cakes. Fried chicken was OK.
The meat offerings strangely omitted bulgogi. Most cuts were excessively thick that resulted in lengthy cooking times (perhaps that's to reduce consumption)? My favourite pork jowl was available. The meat did appear of high quality with great texture. The vegetables and condiments were as expected, the ssamjang wasn't very flavourful. The ssam on offer were too small to form a decent wrap.
The sushi was good but not outstanding, with not much variety. The bingsu machine was a bit of a novelty and there were a reasonable amount of toppings available. Drinks are available via QR code at the table. A good range but non-alcoholic drinks were on the expensive side.
In summary, a pleasant experience with courteous and efficient staff - but the price point reduces the cost effectiveness. Other local outlets either feature charcoal grills or greater range - at significantly...
Read moreOn my first visit to Gojip for the lunch BBQ buffet, I was quite satisfied. Although the dessert options were limited, the quality of the meat was excellent, and I remember telling my friends, “Please don’t lose this quality — just stay like this.” We said that because we’ve seen many Korean BBQ buffets start off great and then quickly decline in quality and service while raising prices.
Unfortunately, that fear became reality in less than a month.
They claimed the recent changes were made “for the customers,” but nothing was posted on their website — just a single Instagram post announcing the changes. The lunch food-only buffet time was shortened from 90 minutes to 60 minutes, and now hotpot use is completely prohibited, even though many 5-star reviews were clearly based on being able to use the hotpot during lunch.
If this was the plan all along, it should have been that way from the beginning. And if you’re going to make changes, don’t blame the customers. Seeing how much has changed in just a few weeks, I can only imagine how it will go from here.
The base lunch price is already around $10 more expensive than other buffets, and now with fewer benefits and tighter restrictions, it simply isn’t worth it anymore.
Personally, I now recommend the Seoul Garden lunch buffet in Sunnybank ($19.90) instead. They offer a wider range of dishes and desserts at a lower price.
Please don’t sacrifice long-term trust for short-term gain. These kinds of decisions may drive loyal...
Read moreThis place has solidified as my favourite KBBQ place in Brisbane. Came here with my girlfriend for the dinner BBQ buffet. Service was good, and we got our table smoothly. The atmosphere was nice too, as it was quite bustling for a Thursday night.
The food however is the main focus obviously. The sushi range was diverse, and we got to try so many types (beyond what’s in the photo), and they’re all freshly made which was great. I loved the aburi in particular, but every plate was special.
Their hot dishes were also solid. The fried chicken was juicy, the marinated pork and beef were very flavourful, and their braised short ribs were so tender.
The meat quality for the Kbbq part was also exceptional. The marbling on their wagyu was superb, although you would have to try get to the food bar early to get the best pieces. But the meat was so tender and flavourful, and their sauces also did well to enhance their flavours. The pork jowl was also very juicy.
My favourite part however has to be the bingsu machine. They give a good selection of toppings to choose from, and it was a delight to just go back for more for desert. Easily the best desert selection out of every kbbq I’ve been to so far.
Overall, would highly recommend this place. The quality of the food is really good, and for anyone who likes bingsu this place is...
