I am a regular customer of 8 Monkeys restaurant at 75 Koornang rd carnegie and today I had a very bad experience there. Today I not only ate at the restaurant but also bought hot dishes to take home ordered in aluminum containers , normally in plastic containers , but I asked the waiter if it could be in aluminum containers because I avoid storing hot food in plastic containers if possible for health reasons. I know aluminum container is large, therefore, I order 2 portions of braised fish instead of 1 only. However, the waitress spoke to the kitchen staff about my request, saying that I was afraid of microplastics and a girl in the kitchen was very disrespectful to the customer , speaking loudly said "microplastics my head" and then talked back and forth with the waitress about my request so that I could hear the entire conversation between the waitress and the kitchen staff. Talking about the customer behind the customer's back while the customer was sitting right outside and I heard the whole thing , is a disrespectful attitude to the customer and not standard in the restaurant service industry. Not stopping there, before the dish I ordered at the restaurant was brought out, she personally went from the kitchen to my table and told me the whole story she had discussed with the waitress (I had heard it all anyway. I found it all too annoying ,so I canceled the two dishes to calm things down, but I didn't expect that she would come to my table and stand there arguing with me , demanding that she was right and I was wrong for asking for the dish to be served in an aluminum container ,with an unacceptable attitude. She was happy to lecture me for nearly 10 minutes ,( making me late to pick up my child). The handling of the situation was terrible. I ordered Boiled vegetables takeaway served in aluminum which was hot and there was no bag to carry it. If you cannot do as requested, you can speak politely, kindly and civilly so that both parties are happy instead of arguing with the customer without any respect because of your high ego and wanting to be the last one to speak. I had to end the argument by tactfully sending her to the kitchen to prepare the dish because I had to go. She showed her attitude and said the dish was being prepared. I don't understand why people who have lived in Australia have not learned to be polite and civil in communication. No matter what, customers are still customers and should use a polite attitude to communicate with customers instead of arguing one-on-one and cursing customers behind their backs when saying "microplastics, my head" as I heard. My mood has crashed because I have spent money on food and have been cursed for being a customer.
please be aware of this restaurant if you want to stay away from a trouble maker. I, myself, friends and family surely will never coming back. I don’t deserve to receive that bad attitude for what I have to pay for. I am also an admin of a group with almost 15000 members on social media, I was recommended to share my experience to the local community and I surely will do so like writing a review here for a...
Read moreFrom the perspective of a Vietnamese, the food here is overpriced but barely average. Their attempt on delivering the traditional dishes turn those into seemingly poor replications of authenticity. To be more specific, the Pork Belly Skewers came out in pallid color with hardly any sign of a good grilled dish, but even made me (and my partner) question whether they had been fully cooked. The pork in Hanoi Pork Vermicelli lacked the sign of the smoky flavor from being charcoal-grilled (a must have for this dish) and contains too much fat. With a dominant portion of fat over meat, plus not getting grilled properly, the thing became so greasy to have with such a sauce that I believe contained an excessive amount of sugar. As for the Bun Dau Mam Tom, even though they got the tofu, (pressed) vermicelli, and shrimp sauce right, they wronged this dish by putting veggies that normally belong to other dishes into this one and ruined the flavor. Again, a problem with the pork as it was sliced too thinly. Being way too slim, the pork slices fade straight into the shadow the moment they are paired with any other component of the dish. Overall, my partner and I regret spending our time here and would definitely not recommend it to...
Read moreI never leave reviews, but I am compelled to do so for the excuse for food that I was served up tonight.
I ordered the chicken coleslaw & a serve of spring rolls, total cost $35.00
The coleslaw was slops quite frankly & it seems the restaurant doesn't respect it's customers enough to serve FRESH and well prepared food.
For a start, the chicken was disgusting & flavourless (it should be poached and shredded for a coleslaw, not what it was), but instead it was chunks of all the bad tasting pieces, and looked like a Coles roast chicken had been pulled apart.
The spring rolls weren't too bad, but $17 for what is essentially an entree is outrageous. I've had better for less $.
I won't be going back & I'd advise this restaurant to start respecting it's customers more & actually serve food that is FRESH and offer value for money instead of the blatant rip off that it is.
Edit: and to the "thanks for your feedback" comments by the business, obviously the feedback is not important to this restaurant as I've read other low reviews that mention the disgusting standard...
