I had an average experience here but I expected a bit more as it's quite pricey. The place is a bit overcrowded as we had to squeeze through between tables and chairs. We went for Sunday dinner. Out of 5 dishes we had, I was happy with two which is lamb and pita bread. An okay with two dishes which were grilled goat chesse and beef sausage even though I think portion is quite small compared to the price. Looking forward to have grilled octopus but ... it was really chewy and not pleasant to eat as I had to keep chewing and chewing. The dressing was a bit plain too so we asked for lemon. Service was okay, not overly friendly or cold. They did forget our bread after we had already half of lamb and asked if it's coming. My partner would come back to try another dishes but I probably wouldn't. At least, we tried so you should too.

Been here many times and each time was usually delicious. A tiny bit pricey but I have to admit that the food quality is usually very good. Try the dips and the saganaki for entree, and then a seafood or meat platter if this is your first time here. That will give you a basis for branching out on future visits. On our most recent visit we had the seafood platter. I must admit that somne of the elements like the scallops, prawns, fish fillets, and mussels were all a bit overcooked. However the calamari and the whitebait were superb, as were the fresh oysters. We did not like the salad at all. And there had been an over-generous hand with the dried oregano on both the dips and the salad. Usually the food is very very good. Not this last time though.

Been coming here since the early 2000s. Dips and bread are amazing. Meat is juicy and well cooked, but more lemon is needed to balance the richness and saltiness. While the dips are typically an entree, I recommend eating it with the meat platter as it's a great combination. Saganaki is good too - but make sure you eat it immediately as that's when it's at its best. Greek beer average, my dining companions enjoyed the wine but a bit of miss for me. All up $216 for four people. Bookings recommended - make sure you ask not to be seated near the door as clueless patrons often don't close doors behind them (how do they live at home?!) and you'll be constantly blasted by the cold air and getting up to close it.

A major letdown

What a letdown! We booked a 7:30pm dinner for 9 people at Agapi 2 months prior, anticipating a busy Easter long weekend. We were hosting interstate visitors and wanted to make sure that we had a booking to suit football goers coming from the MCG. On the afternoon of the booking we were contacted by the restaurant & asked to come at 8pm instead due to a failed booking system.

We arrived just before 8pm but were told we needed to wait at least 20 minutes. With other groups also arriving and being asked to wait outside in the cold rain they then locked the door. A bit rough for our party that included an elderly woman and another on crutches with no immediate attempt from staff to come and let us know how much longer before our table would be ready. At this point, there were 2 other groups waiting to enter for their 7:30 pm booking. To leave, existing customers had to unlock the door on the way out & like for like numbered groups were selected to come in. At that point, we asked how much longer? The staff member was abrupt, dismissive and without apology in saying they have no idea. We will never go back to Agapi. Sometimes, things go wrong but communication, acknowledgment of the fault & an apology would have been appropriate in this instance. They could learn some...

We had a booking at 5pm and upon confirmation we’re advised we had to be out by 6:30pm. No problem. However, when we arrived we weren’t even greeted by staff, it seemed like us being there was a major inconvenience. A man, I’m assuming the owner came over and said abruptly ‘would you like saganki or dips to start with?’. Again, no greeting or acknowledgement of our presence. He was pushing us to order when we had only been there 2 minutes and we were the only people in the restaurant. We said we weren’t ready and he rolled his eyes and walked away. The ‘great’ service continues with a female member of staff who basically threw the plates and cutlery at us when re-setting the table for mains. Before finishing our entrees she started clearing our plates and then stood there watching and waited whilst my dad finished serving himself some food. As drink glasses were cleared we weren’t offered another. Food was dropped onto the table with no description. All four of us were extremely uncomfortable the whole time and never felt welcomed.

When I went to pay, I offered the owner my feedback on which he was defensive and unapologetic.

This would have to be the worst restaurant experience my family and I have ever received.

I would not recommend wasting your money or your...

We were a small group of Greek girls from Adelaide and wanted to share our experience with fellow travellers. The food there was pretty good, not very large Portions for what you’re paying, but couldn’t rly complain about the quality. The owner took care of us for the most part, but make sure you are stern with what you do and don’t want, otherwise you will have items you didn’t ask for brought to the table and added to your bill. In saying that, we felt very well taken care of by the owner, Thank you. The wait staff on the other hand were completely and utterly rude and condescending. As a waitress myself, I know good customer service and the girls here are not it. I am never EVER one to complain about customer service because I understand how hard it is, but the attitude from the staff, from calling up to order all the way down to asking for our bill, was unacceptable. Refusing to take our booking over the phone, eye rolls at our simple requests, cutting us off mid sentence, the daggers and the attitude was insane. Again, as a waitress myself I completely understand what it is like to work a busy, long shift, but this was crazy. I have not once complained about waitstaff like this, but this was...
