Amphawa is a family run Thai restaurant located on Bay Street in Port Melbourne. It is named after the owners hometown, one of the smallest and most beautiful cities in Thailand 🇹🇭 The chef has been cooking Thai food his entire life, learning from his mum and cooking every dish with love. You can taste the difference, everything feels authentic, homely and full of flavour. 💛 They also do lunch specials for $15.90 which is incredible value for the quality and portions! ✔️ Pork Toast - crunchy, savoury and moreish
✔️ Thai Dim Sims - juicy
⭐️ Chicken Curry (lunch special) - next level crispy chicken with the perfect green curry
✔️ Pad Thai King Prawn
✔️ Black Pepper Fish
⭐️ Khao Soi Slow Cooked Beef - I would come back just for this!
⭐️ Pad Kha Na Crispy Pork
⭐️ Steamed Thai Calamari, Lemon Spicy Sauce - spicy and fresh!
✔️ Roti Bread, Peanut Sauce - a little oily
⭐️ Glutinous Rice Balls - soft, warm, added texture from the coconut, subtly sweet and comforting. A suprise favourite!
✔️ Banana Fritters - crisp outside, sweet, ripe banana inside!
➖ Coconut Smoothie - coconut flavour could be stronger
✔️ Thai Milk Tea Definitely has placed itself as one of my favourite spots in Melbourne for Thai food. Although on a Tuesday night they had no bookings, by 6pm the place was already completely full with walk ins - the locals clearly know it’s good! Every dish was generous and cooked with heart. What more could you want?

This cosy family-run Thai restaurant is named after the owner’s hometown, Amphawa, a village in Thailand that is famous for its floating markets 🇹🇭 They serve a wide variety of authentic Thai dishes from curries, grilled meats, stir-fries and more 🙌 Highly recommend their Pad Ka Na Crispy (the pork stayed super crispy!) and Pad Cashew Nut which was sweet and addictive 🤤 We also tried 2 of their special menu items which were both absolutely delicious - Kaeng Kua Bamboo, a creamy Thai red curry packed full of bamboo shoots 🥘, and Black Pepper Fish, crispy deep fried barramundi tossed in fragrant spices and veggies 🐟 What we had: 🥩 Grilled Pork ($19.8) 🌟🥘 Kaeng Kua Bamboo with Chicken ($19.9) 🌟🥓 Pad Ka Na Crispy Pork ($23.9) 🌟🥜 Pad Cashew Nut with Chicken/Prawns ($24.9) 🍜 Pad Thai with Prawns ($23.9) 🦑 Kao-pad Fried Rice with Calamari ($23.9) 🌟🐟 Black Pepper Fish ($26.9) 🥥 Coconut Juice ($7.9) 🌟🥥 Coconut Smoothie ($10.9) 🧋 Thai Milk Tea ($6.9) 🥭 Mango Sticky Rice

Hands down to the owner and chef at this beautiful restaurant - super delicious authentic Thai food at relatively reasonable price and generous portion. I and my friend had such a great night enjoying 3 popular dishes - Stir Fried Yellow Curry with Chicken, Stir Fried Pork Belly with Chinese Broccoli, and Beef Thai Salad - at first we thought we surely could not finish them all, yet nothing left at the end simply because all 3 dishes were so so so tasty. I had to come back the next day to get the same Yellow Curry to my super fussy son who also enjoyed the food very much. Nink is such a lovely and friendly owner who has genuine passion in serving the best Thai food to local customers, which we really appreciated. The restaurant has just been established for a couple of months but we can see there were quite a lot of customers coming in and out during the 2 hours we dined there. Please come and enjoy this delicious food, you will not be disappointed.
