Amsterdam Cafe — Restaurant in Melbourne

Like some reviewers before me, I am conflicted about how to rate this establishment. Prices are good, food is nice and the coffee is ok too. The staff are friendly and the service from them is fine. The owner however, is not. She was rude and offensive to her staff when I was there, telling them off and shouting rudely with no regard for customers being present. She was counting receipts and time sheets and abusing the staff for not completing them correctly. She was unreasonably demanding and aggressive and it made for a very uncomfortable experience for them and the patrons. I couldn't wait to leave to be honest, and I will not be going back. I'm only at the office a few days a week in this post-covid world, but I look forward to those days so damn much. Why? because it means I get to drop by Amsterdam in the morning and get myself a coffee and one of their chilli scrambles. If you haven't had one yet do yourself a favour, purchase one and put this flavour party in your mouth. The one cake I bought from this Cafe was very tasty and the Coffee was very well made. The boss/manager was sort of unprofessional, counting the till and sorting out the receipts right in front of me getting frustrated say saying things like “I’m going to loss it”. It was kind of uncomfortable. I had no problem with her doing paper work in front of me, it was just the negative attitude.
