The Prince Alfred (“PA’s”) is one of Richmond’s best pubs — a perfect mix of great food, a lively atmosphere, and a welcoming, stylish space. It’s the kind of venue that works for everything: a casual midweek meal, after-work drinks, or a big night out with friends.
The food is far above standard pub fare. The menu has all the classics you’d expect — parmas, burgers, steaks, and fish and chips — but each one is done with real care and quality ingredients. The parma is a standout: crisp crumb, rich sauce, perfectly melted cheese. The pizzas are also excellent, with fresh toppings and a proper wood-fired feel. For something lighter, the salads and share plates are fresh, generous, and full of flavour. Everything comes out quickly and consistently good, no matter how busy it is.
The drinks list is broad and well considered, with plenty of beers on tap, a strong wine selection, and cocktails that are fun but not fussy. Prices are fair, and there’s something for every taste and mood.
The venue itself is fantastic. Spacious and modern while still keeping a pub’s warmth, it has multiple areas to suit different occasions — from the buzzing bar to relaxed dining spaces and a great beer garden. There’s always a lively energy without it feeling overwhelming, and on game days it’s one of the best places in Richmond to soak up the atmosphere.
Staff here are consistently excellent — friendly, efficient, and on top of things even when the place is packed. You always feel looked after, and that reliability makes every visit easy and enjoyable.
What makes the Prince Alfred special is that it’s not just a pub — it’s a Richmond institution. It delivers on great food, drinks, and service every single time, and it’s the kind of place that quickly becomes a regular favourite.
For anyone in Richmond looking for a pub with seriously good food and a great vibe, PA’s is...
Read moreI went to the Alfred on Sunday for a drink with a friend. I was outside in the beer garden and then exited to the side to the smokers area which has an exit straight onto a street. While out there a dad came running out frantically asking if his 5 year old daughter had run out, I said no and he ran back in. I then ran down the road to where the front of the building was to make sure she didn’t run out the front, her mum ran out balling her eyes out also looking for her. I then ran down the street to Tesla alerting everyone to keep an eye out Incase she had got out, but let’s face it if she did the chances wouldn’t have been good. When I get back the parents have found her and are laughing it off like it’s no big deal. Neither the front or the back entrance had a bouncer and the place was PACKED given it being a Sunday afternoon. It ruined my entire afternoon, so I left. As I’m walking to the front door, low and behold she is running towards the front door again and the parents no where to be found. I think you need to SERIOUSLY consider allowing children into a adult venue. Alcohol and children should not be mixed, especially when your patrons seem to care more about getting on the sesh than caring for their child. Other patrons should not have to be impacted because little children are in a venue they shouldn’t be, especially in a beer garden full of adults under the influence of alcohol. A restaurant I understand, but not a beer garden with a door way leading directly onto the street that isn’t monitored. Very very dangerous, especially in the world we...
Read moreThere are so many places out there that have Sunday roast on the menu. But let’s be real, not everyone can nail it. I can gladly say I thoroughly enjoyed this one at @princealfredrichmond not just because it was so beautifully presented but was a real explosion of flavours💥💥 The lamb meat fell off the bone, mixed with that delicious gravy and served with lightly roasted veggies. That’s perfection for me!!😍
Couldn’t really fault any of the dishes we ordered either. The Salt & pepper calamari, a classic pub nibble went with well with the squid ink aioli.
And that Ricotta gnocchi, oh my goodness!! Light, pillowy pasta that just melts in the mouth with the kick of parmesan and pine nuts.
The cocktails were so refreshing and pretty to look at. I loved my Dark and Stormy made with spiced rum.
I was also surprised how amazing the pizza was as I usually am so particular where I eat them. We ordered the Sausage and it had a thin, crisp crust(just how I like it) loaded with meat goodness and CHEESE.
Finally ended this feast with their signature Lemon curd cheesecake which had such a great balance. I hate overly sweet desserts so this just ticked all my boxes.
The only thing I was worried about was the food baby in the making!!🙊😄
I’m usually not a pub food kind of girl but would highly recommend checking them out!!
I’m going to stop talking now and let my pics do...
