I was craving for some greek food and I wanted to try something different and something new from my usual hummus and pita so I went for Pillar of Salt’s Greek Board and it was phenomenal! FOOD & COFFEE: I ordered the ‘Greek Board’ because alot of the things that were on it were food I’ve always wanted to try from Greek restaurants but never wanted to order full portions. This Greek Board is fabulous for people who want a bit of everything and can I just say the Loukaniko is the best sausage I’ve ever had in my entire life? Its so much better than chorizo because it has the texture of a sausage which is softer but the flavour is one that matches chorizo which has a hint of spice. The pita was super soft and amazing with the dips! I never tried taramasalata and was always curious and now that I’ve tried it, I can say it ruined me 🤣 The scrambled eggs were done really well as well and I liked how it wasn’t overly seasoned so the other flavours balance it! The saganaki was kinda tough and reminded me of halloumi but less milky. I also ordered a soy latte and it was good! It did however have a bitter bite! But the soy went really well with it! SERVICE: Service is really pleasant and friendly! They were really attentive and it was service with a smile! Also the food was served really fast which i luuuved! Pillar of Salt is one of Richmond’s very best and I can tell why! It’s bustling and full of people and it gives the CLASSIC cafe vibe which I love! The food selection is also so lovely, catering to savoury and sweet! I’ll definitely be returning 🥰

What’s better than having the first bite of salmon and eggs? Nothing. Here’s how the Pillar Of Salt is doing it right. Located in Richmond on the busy Church street, the Pillar Of Salt is a great venue that mixes the hum drum of a busy cafe in the front with a quiet space for eating out the back. The mixture of fitness focused people up the front looking for a caffeine hit mixed with business deals being made at the back just added to the charm. The service was definitely on point and I thoroughly enjoyed the banter with our host. I chose the amazing Nordic Breakfast – Vodka & Juniper Berry Ocean Trout Gravlax, Scrambled Eggs, Rye Toast, Dill Aioli, Mustard Sauce, Emmental Cheese and House Pickles. Now I must admit, I was a little hesitant to enjoy salmon and eggs for breakfast. A salmon roll, maybe. But this feast? First of all, those eggs were cooked in a way, I’ve never even considered cooking. It was sliced, yet, cooked just the way I love my eggs (fried) in this tangy sauce that melded with the ocean trout gravlax. And the dips were all kinds of heaven. My gosh, those dips. They were right on so many levels. Finalise that with thick rye bread with butter….and I was weak at the knees. How. How could they top this? Coffee. Their coffee was aromatic with a hint of sweet caramel and honey. I then tried it with almond milk. Sorry MB, but it just didn’t work for me. Go for the meal and the coffee, you will be glad. And the people watching doesn’t hurt either.

Red chilli scrambled eggs or Buttermilk Pancake stack - soul searching did not give me an answer but our kindly waitress confirmed my leaning towards the eggs was sound and so it was that I had the second best chilli scrambled eggs I've had in Melbourne. My partners Cilbir eggs were perfect as well and so were our coffee and the juice. If you're looking for breakfast along Church Street Pillar of Salt is one of the best little places for your morning meal fix. We'll definitely be back for more! Update - 14/03/20 - Pillar of Salt maintains its rock solid position as a consistent delicious brekky provider. The 15th century cilbir eggs is immaculate and my partner's black rice porridge was perfect as were our coffees and a peanut butter custard donut.

I loved my time here and so did my pup!! This cafe is really dog friendly from having a ‘puppy parking station’ to a courtyard at the back for the dogs to play! We got to meet the resident bulldog, Henry, which made our time there so enjoyable! Got recommended the Peking duck roti and the duck was cooked to perfection. The home made hoi sin sauce was a good blend of sweet and salty and the serving was generous! There was also popcorn on it for a little bit of texture and crunch! As for my drink, I had the coconut ‘latte’ which was refreshing! It was a real fresh coconut and a shot of coffee which you poured into the coconut itself. Wait time for food and drink was fair seeing that the place was busy! Will definitely be back!

The interior fitout is exactly the type of environment I like but the food missed the mark a bit... I had the beef brisket on the chopping board and it had some tomato paste thing dumped all over it (on a slice of toast). Have a look at the pics and you'll see what I mean. Other friends had Californian salad, pasta, poke and toasties and I tasted some of the other stuff and out of the bunch I think the toastie was the best which is not that great when you have kitchen prepped food coming up second best competing with a grill thing you can make at home. The staff seemed ok in terms of fatigue and friendliness and the food got to our table in a reasonable time frame. Checkout the pics

I went here a week ago with my sister for brunch and I have to say, it was a beautiful experience. Really enjoyed the 15th Century Cilbir Eggs that I ordered, with extra sujuk on the side. I asked if the sujuk was halal and it was. My sister ordered the the Tiramisu Buttermilk Pancake Stack which was gorgeously presented and so fluffy. The jam in the middle was a sweet surprise. The prana chai was beautifully made and strong, just like I had requested. The iced chocolate my sister ordered was creamy, chocolatey and just perfect! I recommend this place if you’re looking to have a good brunch and catch up with friends.
