My friend and myself walk in right after Splash to make an Enquiry about the prices/packages and possibly book a karaoke room for her birthday. We were also hoping to have some drinks and food in the meanwhile. The waitress was kind and asked us where we would like to sit and because the place was so dead literally no soul other than three employees we could see at around noon on Sunday, we decided to sit at one of the tables close by to the bar. I was quite thirsty and asked for water, while my friend was deciding what she wanted. She also mentioned that she would like to know the prices for drinks/meals for about 10-12 people etc, the waitress mentioned she’ll get the manager to discuss further. Because we went there right after our fitness session, I obviously had my empty bottle in hand which I placed on the table. The waitress must have mentioned about the details we were after to the manager who then sends some pamphlets through her. She goes back and has a word and at this point, the manager is right at my sight, and he mentions that he doesn’t want anything else (other than the glass bottle and cups) on the table. Even before the waitress could relay it to me, I slowly remove my bottle from the table and held it in my hand while he continues to check me out top to bottom (yes, I was wearing my long gym pants and flip flops as the activity I go to doesn’t require me to wear shoes or socks). While my friend is looking through the menu and the pamphlet, I am telling her it looks like the manager doesn’t appreciate my presence here coz I could see it from his facial reaction (totally disgusted) and hear his tone to the waitress (sounded absolutely rude). He then approached us and was not taking my friend seriously either while giving me the looks. He was picking up on every little detail she mentioned. After all this, we just left the place quietly and possibly making the waitress wonder why we dint order any drinks either.
I also checked on their “website”, it doesn’t have any dress code policy and google mentions it’s a casual environment.
I am still curious as to why he did not think of me being “worthy” enough to sit in a restaurant that he manages. Was it because I was wearing gym clothes and flip flops ? Was it because I wasn’t as the same skin tone as him ? Or was it because the bottle I had ruined the image of the empty place he managed ?
As much as I appreciate the decor of the place, the kindness of the waitress, I just couldn’t agree to pay a cent for this business because of...
Read moreHave celebrated two Communions and a Grade 6 Graduation at Artdeco Bar & Kitchen. Can't thank Damien and Sandra enough for the great service they provided on all three occasions. Food was delicious, presentation on point as well as their service. Damien did an AMAZING job for our Grade 6's Graduation, there was alot of food, a lot of 'yummy food' as the kids put it. Venue is fantastic and you have a couple of options should you choose to have a function at Artdeco.
Happy customer, would definitely be back and will always recommend Artdeco Bar & Kitchen to others.
Thanks Damien for always doing your best to...
