Baby J's — Restaurant in Melbourne

Ordered 2 x Funnel Cakes. They were okay.. Nothing special. What annoyed me was they charged EXTRA for the Nutella flavour. As soon as my order came.. It was not even Nutella. It was chocolate sauce🤦🏽‍♀️ Anybody who loves Nutella knows their stuff, and that watery chocolate sauce you used and tried to claim as Nutella was not it.

Another thing was I was served by the Indian chick. No disrespect but this woman was nooot understanding me🤦🏽‍♀️ I had asked for extra banana on the Nutella Funnel Cake (it comes with Strawberries + Nutella) and so she removed the strawberries (I never asked her to do that). When my plate came and I saw there was no strawberries I'd told the young server and she kindly took the plate back and added some strawberries.

Next, I went over to order two servivgs of Extra ice-cream for $2 each as it says on the menu. She charged me $9.00🤦🏽‍♀️ I had to tell her and she hesitantly said 'sorry I just put it under something else'. So um yeah..

We barley touched the funnel cakes. Most of it went in the bin due to it being flavourless. The cost of extra toppings are ridiculous considering my partner and I got about 6-7 unever slices of banana each. The strawberries were being held back on with the portion sizes as well. The ice-cream on the otherhand was good though.

The overall Funnel Cakes themselves look better than they taste in my opinion.

Another thing was the music. It was good stuff but too loud. Basically had to shout over the music to hear each other.

Overall a very annoying first-experience. I was looking forward to trying out this place for a long time. But after last night's experience I will not be back, nor reccommending this joint to anybody.

Tonight I decided to go out for a nice dessert night with my daughter and bestfriend. Upon arrival the owner Joey starts yelling and I actually thought he was having an issue with someone whom was seated only to realise as I was at the toliet door he was speaking to me. Firstly how disgusting that I am clearly on my way to the bathroom obviously needing to use it completely humiliated as when I closed the door all customers were looking my way. Secondly you were too busy worried about me using the bathroom that you completely ignored the two customers wanting to order food at your counter, my daughter and bestfriend. Not to mention when I came out the bathroom even your lovely behind the counter lady asked if I was ok and was concerned. Then when you come out from the kitchen once I’ve come to the counter you try to preach to me about how the last customer did something half an hour ago! Mate irrelevant DONT EVER TRY TO HUMILIATE ANYONE INSIDE OF WHAT YOU CALL YOUR BUSINESS. and then you wonder why it’s only family leaving reviews and how your shop is always empty vs Karomi. Disrespectful and played with the wrong woman. I wish you and your business nothing but the trauma you made myself and everyone else feel due to your behaviour tonight. You should be ashamed of...

I don’t say this lightly: Baby J’s is hands-down the best dining experience I’ve ever had! From the moment you walk through the door, you’re welcomed like family by a team of genuinely warm, attentive staff who clearly love what they do – and it shows in every detail.

Let’s talk desserts, because WOW. Their cannolis are nothing short of legendary. The Bueno cannoli is an absolute revelation – rich, indulgent, and perfectly balanced – while the traditional cannoli hits all the right nostalgic notes with its crisp shell and creamy, not-too-sweet filling. I will come back just for those alone!

But don’t stop there – the chicken burger I ordered was the best I’ve ever eaten. Juicy, packed with flavor, and served on the perfect bun, every bite was perfection. Their secret sauce recipe should be in a vault cause that was priceless!

Every item on the menu we've tried so far feels like it’s been made with love, care, and serious attention to flavor. Whether you’re popping in for a quick coffee or settling in for a full meal and dessert, Baby J’s nails it!
