We have been coming to this restaurant for over 5 years now and it’s been a very pleasant experience for us till date. Our parents came from overseas recently to visit us for the first time and we decided to celebrate our evening together at the Berwick Thai. I must say that this has been by far the biggest mistake of my life! I have never met such an obnoxious and unprofessional person ever before. What a witch! As soon as we entered the place, she greeted us by saying ‘the kitchen closes at 9.30! It was 9.10 pm. The restaurant was completely empty besides a couple who had just ordered their dinner. I asked if they are happy to accomodate us or else we can leave. She offered us the corner table right next to the couple. It was so cramped up and the table was in a very poor condition. We asked if we could sit somewhere else, as the restaurant was literally empty, to which she frowned and blatantly said that they have cleaned the other tables followed by a big pause. Let me tell you this is not a cheap place to dine in on any day. My parents were disgusted with her behaviour and we decided to leave. We were astounded to see her go to the table quickly and pick up the menus without uttering a single word! My wife did have a go at her finally and gave her a dose of her own medicine. She was choked when we asked her name and tried to justify that she did nothing wrong. The manager was good enough to apologise over the phone but little hesitant to tell her name. I would request the management to look into this matter urgently as she definitely needs help. People with this attitude can be detrimental to any business and create negative feelings amongst their colleagues too as we witnessed today. Thanks for spoiling our parents’ first outing in Melbourne. I pray God we never ever get to see that person in...
Read moreWell, their food might be good but in terms of hospitality they fail big time! Had been a regular customer of this restaurant and had always ignored the rude behaviour of the staff thought might be their inefficiency to conversate properly in english. But the other day a waitress on the front surpassed all the limits with her bad behaviour. May be it was some of those bad days for her but being in a hospitality business a decorum and etiquette need to be maintained .I had my in-laws come over from overseas and the very first day we took them to this restaurant after confirming if they are happy to serve us after 9p.m. and to which they said we can arrive until 9:30. As soon as we entered, the lady on the reception without greeting told us in a very rude tone that the kitchen will be closed by 9:30 . My husband told her that we are happy to leave in case it's difficult for them to serve then she says oh you have to be quick and showed us a place in a corner with a broken and rattling table. Then I went in front and asked her to change it but to my utmost surprise instead of changing it she went and took the menu off the table and asked us to leave!!!!! I think these kind of people have no place in a civilised society they should better sit at their homes and do something else. It was really embarrassing for me to bring my family to a business full of uncivilized and rude people. Even people in third world countries do not behave like this. If you are in a hospitality business you have to be polite to your customers at least, food is a secondary thing . As they say ' your behaviour says it all' . Will...
Read moreI recently visited your restaurant today around 8:06 PM. I was extremely disappointed by the service and food, and I feel it’s important to bring this to your attention directly.
A staff member named Lilly greeted me with, “We are closing,” the moment I walked in—even though your listed closing time is 9 PM. I assured her that we’d be quick and could order immediately, but her attitude was dismissive and unwelcoming from the start.
When I requested a menu, she responded curtly, and the entire interaction felt rushed and unpleasant. Our food arrived in under 5 minutes, which was concerning, and the pineapple fried rice was very bland. We were hungry and chose to eat, but it was far from satisfying.
I shared my feedback politely, but she showed no interest or acknowledgment—just said, “I can’t do anything, the kitchen is closing.” It was clear she wasn’t willing to listen, and the lack of courtesy left a bad impression.
This is the first time in my 20 years in Melbourne that I’ve had such an experience at a restaurant. I genuinely feel bad for the owner if this is how staff are treating customers.
I’m reaching out not to complain for the sake of it, but because I believe management should be aware. I would appreciate a response...
