My partner and I were the biggest fans of Burgur when they first opened in Croydon. When they closed down after probably a month (that’s a whole other story) we one day decided to take the 35 minute drive to the next closest location in Berwick. We continued MANY times taking this trip just for the great food, however over the last three visits, they began to go downhill. Firstly, their prices increased. The burger I get has two beef pattie’s and cheese, and it’s price was bumped up to the price of my partners choice, being a whole lot taller with three different types of meat in it. Secondly, their loaded fries were to die for!! Until they changed their chips to flavourless chunky ones and the really nice streaky pieces of bacon to cheap dry processed bacon bits. Next, the ingredients in the burgers changed and for returning customers who never look at the menu anymore, this was very confusing (why the owner felt the need to put onions in every single burger is odd). Lastly, the quality of everything overall. The water bottles had dirty rims that we had to clean before using, the dining area is never tended to in the whole time we are there meaning most times we’re looking at dirty tables. Most times the staff don’t seem to know what they’re doing. Tonight we ordered our usual burgers with one being in a combo and a side of mac and cheese balls. When our burgers were brought out we were told the mac and cheese bites weren’t far behind, however when we had finished all the food we were given, and had waited another 10 minutes, I asked for a refund only to be told they had run out and that’s why we didn’t get them. This was not told to us when we ordered, so my bet is they put them in a takeaway order and then realised they had none left while we were waiting. It’s a real shame to see such a great place decline like this, and i feel sorry for those of you who didn’t get a chance to experience it at its best. Read moreWith all the burger options in Berwick/Beaconsfield do yourself a favour and choose any other one. Ordered from here last night and got there to be told it’s not ready...cool no stress. Whilst standing there for 15 minutes though it was evident that this place is really not doing anything to comply with current covid restrictions. No QR code or contact tracing efforts visible, staff pulling down their masks to speak to customers, at least 7 customers in store with no masks and not distancing with staff not batting an eyelid. After 15 minutes was then asked ‘can I help you’ ...ahh yep I literally spoke to you 15 minutes ago and have been standing here waiting the whole time....asked for my name yet again and the order had been sitting there the whole time even after I spelled it out to start with. Get home and one of two burgers is completely wrong. Can’t call them so partner has to drive down there again, explains that the veggie burger is full of beef and bacon to get a response of ‘oh’. Waits for new burgers to made whilst watching staff pull down their masks to scratch their mouths with their gloves still on...that’s just gross even without Covid. Got a ‘sorry about that’ as new burgers handed over. We get mistakes happen but when you get back home the second time and the burger is not even warm it’s pretty pathetic. However... the restaurant itself is absolutely filthy. The toilets are grim, and the aircon was off, on a 40 degree day. It was like being in Vietnam in summer, in a cheap downtown shop.
I felt bad for the lady working there, as it is clear that the aircon was turned off to save money. She was nice and the food came quick, well laid out and was very nice.
I would honestly say that the combination of filth, and inhumane working conditions could have this place closed down by health and safety.
In response to the owners idiotic comments;
I was indeed there on 4th Feb, between 13:23 - 13:47. Check your CCTV. I was with my partner. We were the only 2 people in the restaurant, sitting in the back, next to the Air Con controller which has a ridiculous note on it about it not working.
There was no AirCon engineer in the shop.
I will do better than contact you; I will come down to the shop today and we can speak face to face.
The "point" of my comments is to warn others of your horrendous establishment.
