I recently moved to Camberwell and decided to try out the Best Mates Café for the first time. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. Walking into the Café, I didn't expect to find such a clean, organized, and airy atmosphere. The décor was simple yet charming, creating a welcoming environment to sit down and enjoy a meal. I must say, the food exceeded my expectations. Not only was it incredibly tasty, but it was also presented beautifully. It's clear that the chef takes pride in their culinary creations, and it made my dining experience all the more enjoyable. One of the highlights of my visit was the impressive selection of juices and drinks. They had options I had never seen before, which added an exciting element. I tried a unique drink that perfectly complemented my meal. What truly stood out to me was the owner's attentiveness and friendliness. They made an effort to ensure that every customer felt welcome and taken care of. It's always nice to see an owner who is so passionate about their café and its patrons. All in all, my visit to Best Mates Café was a delightful experience, and I will definitely be returning. The combination of great food, a cosy atmosphere, and exceptional service makes it a must-visit spot in Camberwell. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by for a memorable...

Visited here for lunch a few months ago.

Nice little café and friendly guy behind the counter.

Benny Bagel with ham - was tasty with good hollandaise sauce and nice presentation. However you only got 1 half of the bagel which was a bit disappointing for $18.

Bacon and Egg Turkish - tasty with lots of flavour, and good value at $11.

Coffee was good.

Unfortunately he forgot our portion of fries and was very apologetic when we brought it up (about halfway through our food when he came to our table). We were going to say not to worry about them, but he ran into the kitchen quickly to sort - it sounded like they were being microwaved first before being fried, and you could tell - they weren't good and we left most of them, but I suspect this is not the usual standard for the fries. He was looking after his kids as well on his own during school holiday time so will cut him a bit of slack.

Might give them another go if I'm back in...

Misleading and poor customer service. With minimal options available on a public holiday we found this cafe. Now after reading the reviews like others before we got caught out by the misleading title of the dish. With the restaurant having gas issues we were limited in our options which was fine, the server recommend the açaí bowl, when it came out there was no açaí. I asked where it was and was told that it doesn’t actually say there is açaí on the description which is true however when ordering this meal you would expect to have some açaí in the dish as the title says. The server told us that for this price we shouldn’t expect açaí and the place up the road charges around $30 for meal and it is not possible to make an Açaí bowl for $17. The point is it is NOT an açaí bowl as there is none in their plain and simple call it a yoghurt granola bowl and be open to feedback from your customers. Wouldn’t recommend being best mates...

What a great little place this is! Definitely one to add to your list of ‘go to’ venues! This tidy little family owned cafe truly brings the meaning of good old fashioned hospitality to customer service - kudos to the owner who took over this business in 2019, just prior to the onset of the pandemic, and certainly here to stay. Whilst relaxing and enjoying one of the all-day breakfast options on offer, it was a delight to observe the cafe owner greet patrons by first name, engage in meaningful conversations and develop fantastic rapport. It’s obvious that he enjoys his role as a member of the community. And the food served is fantastic too, generous servings of fresh ingredients (the bacon was prime rashers with minimal fat, cooked to perfection) served alongside a terrific coffee sure to impress.

Best Mates Cafe 👧Staff are pleasant, they’re always happy and chirpy. Fantastic service. ☕️The coffee is fantastic. I have never had a bad coffee here, rich creamy & perfectly roasted. 🗺 Although located on a main road, this cafe is perfect for local business. There isn’t a lot of good around near our work place, so we rely on Best Mates to give us our quality cafe fix. 💰Reasonable, especially for the quality of coffee. They also have early bird specials.
