Earlier today was my first time visiting Bissel B. but I will most definitely be back. Popped by because I really felt like a bagel and it was 15 mins from where I was, but it turned out everything about this place exceeded my expectations. Not only was the bagel good, it was in fact probably the nicest I've had in Melbourne. It had a really soft, fresh taste and bounce to it, there was a solid variety of bagel types and fillings on the menu - in my case I had the poached chicken, avocado, tomato, cheese and red onion (all of which was super fresh and tasty) - and they absolutely pack the bagel with those fillings. It's a really satisfying feed.

I also ordered a coffee and was expecting something on par with the average Melbourne coffee at best, but it was one of the best I've had in Melbourne. I asked the barista's name and it was Nydia - if she's there making your coffee, you're in for a treat.

The lady who served me, Bianca, offered amazing service. You can tell she takes pride in her work - and rightly so - and seemed to emanate a kind of positivity and brightness that spreads into the overall atmosphere of the cafe. I also took home a slice of cake and had it with a cup of tea, and even that turned out to be absolutely delicious.

Will definitely be back as soon as possible to work my way through some other items on their menu and enjoy some more of Nydia's fantastic coffee. Thanks very much for the nicest lunch I've...

Should have read the reviews first - as many others have said, the bagels aren’t actual bagels, they are more like a soft bread roll consistency. The filling was nice but was ruined by the texture of the soggy bagel. I know the owner will likely respond with a reply saying they don’t make them themselves and they don’t claim to be New York bagels, and I’m not sitting here saying ā€œyou claimed thisā€, I’m simply reviewing my $18 bagel which I didn’t like very much. The everything bagel didn’t actually have everything seasoning on it either, I’m confused. I thought I was given the wrong one but from other reviews it seems like this is the norm. I understand they don’t make them themselves, but they still choose to supply them so they can’t expect everyone to go direct to the bagel supplier with their grievances. If my coffee was terrible I wouldn’t contact the coffee bean manufacturer, I’d let the cafe know so they could either provide the feedback to the manufacturer themselves or decide to switch to a different type of coffee bean in future if they received many complaints. In this case, a lot of people love the bagels so they may as well keep selling them which is understandable. I just wouldn’t go there expecting a proper bagel so wanted to let the community know.

The chive cream cheese was delicious!

I also find the restaurant’s replies to reviews very unprofessional. I totally get responding but there are much better...

Was really excited for this place and could not have been more disappointed. Came here at 9:40 and ordered the bodega, an everything bagel with cream cheese, and an iced coffee. 2nd customers in the shop (wasn’t busy when we arrived) got the coffee 3 mins later. 5 mins after that, the cashier comes and tells us the payment machine went down. And the ticket didn’t come thru but she would bring out our order as soon as possible. About 10 mins after that, it gets busy, and I noticed customers that ordered after us were getting their food. So I approached the cashier and she asked me if I needed to order again? (Much to my confusion). She said the payment didn’t go through. But I show on my bank statement we did indeed get charged. She then says she’ll put in the order manually, and bring it out no worries (again)… the next time we look at the clock it’s 10:08, still no food. We approach for a refund because, well this sucks. And are told we can’t get a refund because the order didn’t go through, and they’re payment systems is down (weird because they’re taking orders and serving other customers) and the food is coming out shortly, and that we’re essentially getting the food for free. (We paid) …

Finally we get the food, and once we open the bissel B boxes our orders are completely wrong….. šŸ˜‘ trulyyy a bad experience. And tbh all would have been forgiven if the order was at least correct and the food was good. It was...

Being new to Richmond (and Melbourne!) my girlfriend and I are on the lookout for great places to eat, and my girlfriend being a bagel connoisseur/fiend, we had to give Bissel B. a try. We were blown away. The service was absolutely incredible - the staff were some of the nicest people we've met in Melb so far. They were happy to give us recommendations about how to make the most of our order, and it did not disappoint. The bagels were delicious and assembled perfectly, and each ingredient complimented the other. Not only that, the coffee was also top notch and I would happily drink it on the daily. There's no need for us to go anywhere else, as this place has instantly become our local go-to coffee shop. We'll be taking all of our friends and family here when they come to visit. Thanks for making our day! And to the people getting upset and leaving bad reviews about table availability - have some compassion. It's a small business trying to do the best they can, which must be tough considering the Covid climate they're operating in, not to mention considering how damn busy they are!

Probably not the best bagel shop around. For me, a good bagel is a dense bagel. We had two bagels here and neither of them were dense. I would describe Bissel's bagels was soft premium bread. We tried the Bronx which was two patties, not sure what to expect but it felt to me like a healthy McDs cheeseburger. Definitely not worth the $15.50 + 10% weekend surcharge. We also tried the Lox & Schmear which was somewhat nicer. However, the overwhelming amount of tomatoes and salmon made it hard to enjoy the rest of the ingredients (my partner thought there was too much cream). We had a small + medium coffee on the side. Everything you see here came to roughly $45 (weekend surcharge). I would not come here again. For the same price (or even less), your money can get some pretty good tasting food elsewhere.
