Mt View Hotel is one of the best all-round pubs in Richmond – the kind of place that works whether you’re after a casual beer with mates, a hearty meal, or a night out with a bit of atmosphere. It’s got that classic pub feel but with a modern polish that makes it stand out from the crowd.
The rooftop is a real highlight. It has great views over Richmond, plenty of space, and a buzzing vibe without feeling cramped. It’s the perfect spot on a sunny afternoon with a cold drink in hand. The main bar downstairs has a welcoming atmosphere too – warm, lively, and exactly what you’d hope for in a good local pub.
The food is excellent. Proper pub classics, cooked well and with generous portions. The parma is a standout – golden crumb, plenty of cheese, and served with chips that are crisp and moreish. The burgers are just as good, stacked high and full of flavour. There are also some lighter options, which makes it easy to find something for everyone.
Drinks-wise, there’s a solid range of beers on tap, good wines, and cocktails that are well made without being over the top. It’s the kind of place where you know whatever you order will be done properly.
The staff are friendly, efficient, and keep things running smoothly even when it’s packed. Service is quick but never rushed, and you always feel looked after.
Mt View is one of those Richmond staples – reliable, fun, and easy to recommend whether you’re a local or just visiting. A true...
Read moreThe last pub on Bridge Rd heading into the city prior to leaving a Richmond. Well what a quintessential way to remind of you of everything Richmond before traipsing to the CBD than a visit to the Mt View Hotel. Huge on the inside, a giant cavernous feel to the pub that has sports bar area, dining area, bar area, function space mid level (or level 1, its confusing), theres toilets seemingly everywhere and finally a stairway that literally feels like its leading to heaven, delivering you to a small rooftop bar area with killer views. The staff tried their hand at friendliness, and would pass with visitors but local inner east dwellers know a "let me finish, get paid and go home" look. That said they all seemed to be enjoying each others company and hell, thats important in the workplace! Now... there is a smell, bit more of a stench in the dining area close the the short arm of the bar, offputting and I'm going to say a once off, haven't been back to validate but not a pleasent accompaniment to the meal. Menu was exactly what you'd like in a stalwart pub in Richmond, dependable and affordable. The meal was huge, it wasn't the best but it did the job. Really odd crowd in here. Was in early evening and I'd say that the pub would be a fair bit of business from being closely located to the Epworth. There was grunge everywhere, intentional Richmond grunge or just dirty grunge you never know... it adds to the Richmond feel! Solid but not...
Read moreThe hotel is fine with good service however after flying in from Adelaide to go to the footy we went back to this hotel and as I had a empty can of beer I looked around had no bin to put it in and didn’t want to put it on an outside table so went inside to put it in the bin and order another drink. The very young security guy wanted to flex his muscles and after realising I had the can ordered me to go back outside and over the road to put it in the bin I said why and put it on a table and he responded you are disrespecting me if that’s not a power trip what is. I decided to calm the situation and said no problem I will do that for you and went outside across the road and put the can in the bin and when I went to go inside where my friend ordered a couple beers he said I’m banned because I disrespected him bizarre. The manager came out and fair enough tried to protect the security but knew it was petty but still tried to embarrass me in front of this young guy. I left spending good money elsewhere and they had to refund the money my mate spent buying a drink good business practice. Oh by the way we were both sober. Good luck during the quiet quite times when the footy isn’t on and your security is scaring...
