We don’t know for sure what inspired this name, but a good guess would be that Fifty Acres is how big this café would need to be to deal with its own popularity. This popularity is extremely well deserved however. The food and coffee is somehow delivered unbelievably quickly, without the finished product seeming rushed. Classic breakfast items such as bacon and eggs become stand out menu items, simply with fresh ingredients, that are cooked with care and a balanced approach to seasoning. The signature dish here is the scotch eggs. It’s hard to say whether these eggs are better to look at or eat, but we’ll let you be the judge of that. You’d think that the staff would have trouble keeping up here and service would be hard to come by, but that is certainly not the case. Tables don’t have water bottles on them and staff are continually filling up water glasses and checking if everything is alright which really helps build a welcoming and familiar vibe. Take a first date here at your own risk, as you may find yourself on a waiting list to get a table and then be faced with the challenge of improvising the awkward down time with someone you don’t really know. But if you are prepared to risk it, this place will definitely impress them. Just leave your number with the wait staff and they will call you when a table becomes available, leaving you and your partner to wander the shops of Bridge Road at...

The service at this cafe is appalling. Continuously ignored, and we only had two dishes and two drinks to order. I would give no star's if I could...! Waitress' not waiting for the customer (being myself and my friend), to finish placing our order, then proceeded to walk away for no reason?! I ordered the $19 chilli scrambled egg with an extra $5 for pork sausage. Then all I got was a tiny pile of so called scrambled egg with two of massive pork sausages! How ridiculous..? The main dish of egg only had three bites and they charge $19.....?? It Totally doesn’t make any sense..? The eggs were very very salty plus cooked with so much diced bacon I feel like my kidney's are going to get hurt from that much sodium in the morning!

I’ve never had scrambled egg with that tiny amount of serving anywhere in Melbourne and I'm Very disappointed!!!

I’ve been there twice before and always ordered their scotch eggs which is usually always very nice and I don’t know why this time the coffee was good, but the food was so terrible.

The terrible service accompanying the bad meal just topped it off. Im afraid I feel like my visit to this cafe as being a complete waste of my money, and sadly I won't be...

Terrible food and customer service.

We went here early on weekend morning and my partner ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon. When the food arrived we noticed there was no bacon with the burrito. We informed the waitress and she stated it was inside the burrito. We couldn't see any bacon so we unwrapped the burrito. Still no bacon. We informed the waitress again. She said there was bacon in it but she would get us some more; emphasis on the word more. I couldn't believe that she was telling us there was bacon in the burrito where there clearly was not.

The bacon finally arrived and my partner hurriedly ate his food so we could leave.

While my partner was eating, the owner was having an abusive argument with the chef and we could hear it from our table.

I ordered the scotch eggs. The scotch eggs were rubbery and came served on a very sad looking pile of rocket. It was not fresh at all.

Luckily after the bacon debacle the waitress refused acknowledge us and another lady took our payment. The other lady was lovely but unfortunately the whole experience has made us never go back.

If you are in the area, try Lennox instead. Amazing fresh menu and...

Fifty Acres is nicely located on Richmond Hill in Richmond set amongst an eclectic range of shops and other places to eat. It can often by busy but the staff seem to cope during those peak periods. Not alot of tables but most customers seem to be here for takeaway. Today I grabbed lunch on the run had a very nice wrap with plenty of fillings. But not too much that it spilled out into the bag as I ate quickly.. Coffee not too bad. A few years ago I complained that there was always too much froth but nowadays there is a generous amount of coffee and a perfect amount of froth. Pedantic? Perhaps but I don't pay for the froth, I pay for what's under it. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Pram and stroller accessible. Reasonable parking

3.6. Fifty Acres is a good cafe on Richmond Hill. It’s a busy little place with people coming in and out all the time. There’s a limited number of tables so you need to be on your game or in luck around lunchtime. I met a friend here today for a pleasant meal. I actually grabbed the fifty acres breakfast which was a pleasant affair without smashing it out of the park. He had the baked beans which looked good too. The coffees to finish were good as well. I must admit I thought the cafe. would be a few steps above what it was given the prime Richmond location, but it is what it is. I had a good time and you can’t ask much more in life, eh.

Never again. Went there with a friend for late breakfast. 4pm they are closing. 2:45am a young women was turning on the vacuum and few minutes later she mopped the floor. We were very disappointed. Few seconds later more costumers walked in and four other tables were taken. I beleave the owner didnt stop her by any of her actions. He was busy on his phone. Glasses were taken from the tables with the finger inside of it. No hand washing in between. Disgusting By 3o‘clock outside tables got places in front of there counter. Half an hour later we have seen enough
