Borgo, Ascot Vale is everything dining should be. A relaxed, fun and social atmosphere -- loud with laughter and lively in conversation.
Serious, but only in the sense of the standards they hold their food to.
Genuine and personable service. You expect great service for the type of place it is, but it is impressionable too - you get to know your hosts and that isn't something that happens often.
My partner and I had an absolutely delicious three course meal paired with a beautiful Cabernet Merlot. We were not rushed, this was not a "turn up, get your food and get out" dining experience.
Nobody was ever too far away to take our orders yet nobody was rushing us to order.
We were asked of any allergies or dietary needs and, in retrospect, I'm quite impressed with this. I never expect to be asked this and this may be the first time someone has ever intentionally asked this. Very proactive.
The food was, of course, amazing.
I highly recommend Borgo. It has to be good when the only bad review is from somebody with no real name, beginning with "Never actually been here..."!
It is terrific that the main dish is always changing because it means that these are confident chefs who try different dishes and are always cooking fresh and in season... To update the menu with a single new dish all the time (as the review suggested) would be ridiculous... Particularly with at least 15 other things to choose from.
Borgo's a new establishment and my partner and I have wanted to come here for quite some time. Almost on a whim we booked a table and came out tonight - without expecting it, we walked right into bliss.
Borgo is doing so much right - it's authentic and personal both in service and food. This is working well guys, I look forward to seeing more of this. The passion is so obvious...
Read moreWe had such a beautiful dinner at Borgo last evening. It’s one of those rare places where every dish feels considered, authentic, and completely satisfying. We started with the Buffalo Burrata with confit tomato and basil pesto. It was light, fresh, and full of flavour. Then the Beef Tartare arrived, layered on crispy focaccia with bone marrow crema and black truffle absolutely delicious. It was rich but still refined, with just the right crunch. For mains, my husband had the Squid Ink Tagliolini with prawn ragu, black garlic, chilli, and marinated zucchini..layered, and seriously good. I went for the Tagliolini with Del Bocia truffle butter, oyster mushrooms and breadcrumbs and it was divine. Earthy, silky, and comforting in all the best ways. We finished with the Rosemary Panna Cotta and the Tiramisù. Both were faultless, the panna cotta in particular was a surprise standout, beautifully fragrant and fresh. And I have to mention the wine, the team clearly know their list inside out, and the pairings they suggested felt perfectly curated for what we ordered. No pretence, just genuine knowledge and passion. Service was warm, confident and intuitive, which is exactly what you want on a night out where the food is the hero. Couldn’t fault a thing. We’ll...

An amazing experience that truly reflects what real Italian food and hospitality are all about. Danilo and Christian at the front of house made us feel incredibly welcome and provided the best service we could ask for. They guided us through the menu, suggesting dishes that matched exactly what we were craving, and they absolutely nailed it.
From the entrées to the mains, all the way to the outstanding desserts, everything was superb. Borgo is without a doubt where we’ll be heading next time we want to enjoy authentic Italian food and that wonderful feeling of being in Italy.
