Usually have a great meal at the Olive Tree and I went for dinner on Tuesday evening with my husband and girlfriend who was not a Sunbury resident and I suggested that it’s one of our good places to eat. My girlfriend and I had the same meal , steak with mashed potatoes and vegetables and prawns in a white sauce on the side and as we were talking and enjoying our food which was nice but not very warm, my girlfriend asked me if I could see a hair in the mashed potatoes and I said absolutely and she pulled it out and it was a long black hair, my friend is completely blonde and doesn’t have long hair and it was halfway through the meal because she poured her gravy over the potatoes so she didn’t see it until halfway through so we tried to get the waiter that served us but we couldn’t see him and my friend couldn’t finish the rest of the meal and I didn’t blame her and I was looking at my mashed potatoes in a completely different way now and an elderly couple at the next table called over a young man who was a waiter as they saw what happened and we thanked them and this young waiter just took the plate into the kitchen and they didn’t even know what to say, no apologies whatsoever and then we found the waiter who served us first and told him what happened and he apologised but then said that he couldn’t do anything about it because she had eaten half of the meal and we explained that, this is when we saw the hair in the potatoes and he had a smirk on face and his name was Prince and was quite rude.He said that he could take off the price of the garlic bread but she had to pay for the meal that she had 1/2 eaten. We payed but we also were very disappointed with this incident and we will never go back there for dinner again. My husband asked him if if we would have found the hair in the first 1/2 of the meal, then would we have had to pay for it? He didn’t...

If you are booking a function, ensure that you follow them up 2 weeks before, a week before, and the day of because their function coordinator is obviously inept.
A 21st was booked for 35 people, I arrive a bit earlier to find that there was nothing in the diary and the manager had no idea there was a function happening.
He gets the function coordinator on the phone, she blames my partner, she blames an ex employee . Then the "I called multiple times ( in a modern age, you cant use this one anymore, it is too easy to look up your call history)🤥 Just own it, you stuffed up darling.
After about 45mins, a foyer full of people, and continually being told it wouldn't happen and that they couldnt cater for us and a stressed out birthday girl and Mum who were both about to burst out in tears..... Prince (night manager) took control of the situation, he kept a calm head, a friendly disposition and a professional manner ( even under what I could imagine some extremely stressful pressure from us, and staff that didnt want to work extra), he had within 30mins had us into the nook, Tables set-up, a new menu put together.
Thankyou Prince, the food was great, everyone enjoyed themselves and while it was a stressful start to the evening, you came through 👍👍👍
Now I would love to say this is an isolated experience, but this has happened 3 times to people at the party and at this venue, so my suggestion is to perhaps stop blaming others, and look at your own internal processes and work out what is going wrong.
Now we just need to work out the overcharged food ( it ended up costing more than what we had booked to pay) Will keep...
Read moreThis was a below par experience starting with the order with 2 lots of garlic bread provided when only 1 was ordered and an extra seniors meal provided which was again not ordered but was in fact meant to be the Chefs' Special. There were 5 Seniors on the table, however my 40+ daughter was not one of them. It's hard to fathom the ordering errors considering the orders were read back.
My seniors garlic bread entrees was as close to cold as you could get and the Seniors parma wasn't hot the mash and veggies lukewarm and the gravy which luckily I asked for separately was a horrible salty concoction that tasted like Vegemite. Big fail for me. My son ordered a Spanish Parma that had a lot of Ham - not in the meal description and he found one tiny piece of salami in his last few bites which was to have been a major part of the meal which he ordered for that very reason. Two other Seniors were not impressed and I tasted the pumpkin risotto which was unlike any risotto I've ever had. I couldn't have eaten it. The staff member was not pleasant when querying the staff produced incorrect seniors order and there is no excuse for cold/lukewarm meals and garlic bread and meals not as described on the menu. I am not a local but I would never return to or...
