Location: nice place; comfy-enough chairs, not overly cramped. Has a really nice view from outside on the deck but unfortunately it was too cold to use. Wasn't too many people either given it was a Saturday lunch.
Food: Had the wagyu burger, it was ok but needed a bit more cheese, and something with vinegar - it was a little bit over-sweet with the caramelized onion, also the buns would have benefit from a toasting. It came with a nice bit of coleslaw, which had a fairly light mayo dressing. Also came with homemade chips which were really nice.
Coffee: mocha was nice and quite creamy, even with skim milk also not to strong or weak. The desserts looked really nice and homemade but the meal filled me up too much to have a cake as well. I look forward to going just for coffee next time.
Pricing: very reasonable for what it was. $4 coffee and the burger with chips and coleslaw was $19.
Customer service: a little hit and miss. One of the servers was friendly, and the other not so much. Not rude, just not exactly 'nice'. Also it would have been nice to have water on the table rather than self-serve tap water.
Overall I'd go back there for sure, maybe on a warmer day though. And I'd definitely stop by for a...

We stopped here for Good Friday for a quick bite to eat when driving through.
The cafe itself has internal and external seating, clean and spacious it is comfortable overlooking the parkland to the rear of the Main Street of Healesville.
Greeted by our friendly and welcoming server in Mel, we sat outside. The menu is specific to local and regional selections of meals from starters to mains. The specials board changes weekly and also has a good selection of meals.
We ordered the Smoked trout Salad, the potatoe pancakes with the additional smoked salmon, the smoked salmon dish and the wagyu pie.
All meals were sizeable and flavourful with a fantastic combination of texture, taste and seasoning.
After our meals we ordered the Kumquat sponge cake. This was delicious with another great combination of sweet and sesame and a perfect texture blend between the sponge cake, wafer and accompanying wafer.
When in Healesville this is most definitely a spot to stop for great service, excellent food and all for a reasonable price.
Big shout out to Mel for providing excellent service, being engaging and kind, and...
Read moreMy son and I had lunch here today because we had walked past people in the main street with amazing sushi rolls. They directed us to Watts River Cafe.
We were going to have take away, but the selection of quiches caught my eye and we decided to eat in.
Everything we ordered was delicious. The sushi rolls were delish and I opted for a trout and goat cheese pizza. The coffee is so good, and my son rated the chocolate milkshake! 🤩
There is a delightful and serene back veranda which is covered. They have blankets inside to put over your needs and rug up on colder days.
The front of the store has lots of cute handmade items to buy.
The staff are so friendly too. We had planned to have lunch somewhere else, but I’m so glad we discovered this gorgeous little cafe. I will definitely be bringing family and friends back here when we visit Healesville.
Also, we don’t have a pet dog, but I did see other people on the veranda with their dog. So, it’s really nice to know your best friend is...
