I went to DFO today for lunch with my boyfriend, and we decided to stop by this Indian takeaway shop to try something different. We ordered a butter chicken and two garlic naan and chose to sit down and eat there.

Unfortunately, the experience was really disappointing for the price we paid. The portions were quite small, especially for what they charge, and the flavour just wasn’t there. The butter chicken tasted a bit bland and lacked that rich, creamy flavour you’d normally expect. The chicken pieces were small and didn’t have much seasoning.

The garlic naan was also underwhelming — it wasn’t soft or fluffy like good naan should be, and the garlic flavour felt very faint. For the cost, I honestly expected a lot better quality and taste.

On top of that, the presentation and overall atmosphere didn’t make it feel worth the money. It felt more like something you’d grab quickly on the go, not something you’d sit down and enjoy.

Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking for a satisfying Indian meal or good value for money. There are definitely much better options elsewhere that offer more flavour, freshness, and fairer...

Looking for food which makes you feel like you are at home? This is the place to go. I visited there for the first time today and now I am a fan, their food is freshly made, and can’t-express-in-words kind of delicious. We had the Gobi and aloo parathas - it was yummmm to the next level, no over powering spices, just the right amount of oil and oh so soft and the cherry on top was the dollop of butter. We also ordered the Chhole kulcha, just like you would eat at home, cooked to perfection with the right amount of spice and very satisfying. What can I say about the Masala tea, hot, freshly made, not too sweet and awakens your spirit, Waah ❤️❤️

Thank you Curry O City, for making my Sunday morning...

The best Indian restaurant in Melbourne,I have eaten food from lots of Indian restaurant but this one has won my heart..food is delicious, well priced and served, very fresh and presentable.I live in eastern surburb and dont mind travelling 50 minutes just to eat yummy 🤤 food even if I dont need any shopping to do,because I think its worth the travel. What impresses me is how lots of menu items are freshly cooked and served hot 🔥. Any menu we try gives us so much satisfation, always a 5 star ⭐️ rating .The management and the staff are so polite, friendly and efficient, our food is always on time.I would highly recommend this restaurant, food is beyond...

The Chole bhatura is rather good here. Not heavily spiced or oily. The tandoori wrap was a let down as it didn’t have that Indian zing to it. Also not spicy even tho it was requested to be made that way. Had I eaten that blindfold I would have been surprised to know it was a tandoori wrap. It was still good but not what I expect from an Indian joint. Also tried their chai which was underwhelming and weak tasting. Do NOTE that they opening hours might be different to what is advertised. I think they said they usually open at 11.

Curry-o-city serves one of the best Indian food in Melbourne! We know because we love Indian cuisine. In fact, it’s hard to beat Curryocity for great, authentic, staple Indian cuisine in the express! We always make it a point to eat at Curryocity when we visit DFO Essendon. It’s one more reason for us to shop at this DFO. Shout out to Parry and Praph, and their crew for the consistently wonderful Indian food over the years! I hope the supply chain issues can be addressed soon. #bringbackthelambcurry!

We were looking for good eat out around Essendon and came across this place in DFO and gave it a try. I should say we were so glad we did! Friendly owner who patiently explained different curry options for meals. Brilliant food, even the condiments that accompanied the dishes were amazing. We tried their biryani. Very different to traditional ones and worth trying as it was very flavourful and fresh. In short, top-class. CurryOCity - one of the best Indian options around Melbourne City. :-)
