In-Depth Review: Food 10/5 *Dry Pot Malatang - Absolutely amazing! In terms of hot pot, David's master pot for me is king. Not dragon hot pot. Fresh, really delicious flavours. You choose your ingredients, they cook it, then you enjoy! Hint: Even the lowest chilli option was super chilli! Tip: You will sweat! Bring a fan or tank top! *Hotpot also was delicious, broth was to die for with signature spices. The soup was absolutely delicious. This experience was so memorable * * Value 5/5 *For a ticket to malatang heaven, it's roughly about $35. Absolutely worth it! Atmosphere 5/5 *Clean, unique decor with money notes enclosed in table, tidy. You feel welcome and clean dining here. Customer Service 5/5 *Staff here are friendly which is a little rare amongst Chinese chains. Well done! Overall * Would recommend anyone to come to this store. Clean, friendly and hospitable. The best hot pot and malatang you'll get in Melbourne. Always try David's first! Tip: Don't dine in on weekends, there are 10% surcharges. Hack: download their app to save on the bill!

I wrote a review a while ago and spoke of how much I loved this place. Since then I have returned many times and moved up in membership. So it came as no surprise I wanted to eat here on my Birthday and get my $50 voucher. However not only did I not receive it but was told I would receive it a few questions later. It has been 2 weeks now and still have not received my Birthday voucher. Turns out treating their loyal customers to incentives they post on their websites is not important to them. When I asked they just made excuses and they said they don't do it any more even though it was still on their website. Then they just put it onto a different manager in a different store. End result is the same. They will take your money time and time again and then when it's time for them to .are good on what they promised they will just make excuses so they don't have to pay. Don't trust this company to honour their membership agreements.

Worst restaurant ever . They don’t care about people’s choices. Asked twice if cutlets were vegetarian. Staff said yes these are vegetarian. So we put so many cutlets in our vegan broth . But when we ate those cutlets, those were definitely meat . Called the staff member and she gave us a cold look . She was not even sorry that they recommended us those fish cutlets. She said we are not sure if these are vegetarian or not . We had paid around $40 for the meal so we had no choice but to eat it . The worst thing that can happen with a vegetarian person is this . Our tomato broth surrounded with fish . So disgusting. We had to take all the fish cutlets out and put aside . And then we ate the meal . They have absolutely no regards for people who don’t eat meat . No offence but If you wanna eat dogs , cats , rabbits , mosquitoes, octopus etc then eat . But don’t make other people eat meat .

Chose to come and dine in at David’s master pot in box hill because the reviews are really good, it was also Good Friday and our usual hot pot in Burwood wasn’t open. Upon entry we were seated pretty quickly and then able to select our ingredients. We noticed that there wasn’t too much variety compared to where we usually go but thought we’d give it a try anyway. We make it to the counter and select our soup base. Usually when we go elsewhere we are usually asked about allergens or it is displayed somewhere so you can see weather you can eat it or need to make customisations. We chose the pork bone soup, which didn’t have displayed there was nuts in there. The only thing the lady mentioned who served us was ‘coriander and spring onion’ and nothing about nuts or allergens. We got a few other sides and drinks spending around ($160) + the public holiday surcharge of 15%. When we got our food I seen there was sesame seeds on top and could smell a different smell when I took a bite of the soup, as soon as I ate it I could tell there was nuts.. I could see the sauce then on top. My partner went up to ask and the lady said there is a sign about allergens and you should mention it to them at the beginning.. but on the other hand we were never asked and pork bone soup sounds pretty ‘nut’ free. They offered to wash my food and give me a new soup base back that had no nuts.. this was nice of them to offer as it was quite expensive. Overall I would suggest that if anyone sees this who suffers with allergies to mention them because staff don’t seem to ask you which I think that it should be mentioned. Another boy sitting on the table near us said that ALL of the soups have nuts except for the pickled one.. so if you didn’t know that, you could be contaminated easily. The brown sugar donut dessert was also very strong and I couldn’t finish it, the stuff inside of the donuts is WAY too strong. Overall I think there wasn’t enough toppings available and the food lacked a lot of flavour that I’m used to at other places. Staff were nice and environment is good too, the tables are unique and pretty and I like there is a pull out drawer underneath with everything in it. I unfortunately probably won’t be back here and will continue going to my local hot...
