The food and service is lovely, and i cannot fault their prices or their attitude.

However the tables, chairs and music is uncomfortable and awkward. The placement of the chairs and the lack of chairs with backs in them makes it difficult to feel comfortable. The tables are clean but they feel sticky from whatever they use to clean them. The chairs have metal legs and the floor is concrete so moving around to feel comfortable, which is often, is noisy and it makes one feel self conscious that they’re annoying or interrupting the people around them. The music is also deeply bad. Covers of pop music sung by random nobodies slapping occasionally on their guitars detracts from the vibe and feels neither apt nor appropriate. Music that is less performative would be better, Japanese music would likely actually fit the aesthetic of the bistro: which is covered in Japanese art, products and has an obvious Japanese vibe, not including the food. (Which is delicious)

I am biased of course, and most people would be able to ignore the music, but i am not one of those people.

Don dons is very hit and miss excellent one night bad the next time sometimes the curry dish I get the chicken is over cooked burnt and dry and the curry sauce cold I asked if they could please heat my sauce up more for me nicely with manners and all I got back was the young man just rolled his eyes at me and took it away with out saying anything how rude is that I even had to go back in 5 mins later and ask where my sauce has gone while in the mean time my meals gone cold and the place is also very filthy dirty spilt dry old food on every outside table never cleaned ever he even had a break when I was there sat inside on his phone the whole time and didn’t even bother to wipe some tables down 4 stars one night 1 star the next time the health department would have a field day if they turned up one night must do better and l have never seen the owner come in to check...

I always enjoy my meal here. Made-to-order food is cooked and delivered promptly and in a friendly manner.

Prices are very reasonable and good for people on a budget.

A steady turnover of customers is obviously testament to their regular patronage among the locals.

Single use plastic forks and spoons are used here so if that's not your thing being your own.

On this particular visit the restaurant was a tad dirty with visible dried sauce on un-wiped table tops, bits of lettuce and rice on the floor and dirty tables uncleared. I get that you aren't paying for five star service, however, basic cleanliness goes a long way.
