Giving 0 star. We went for lunch there today, the restaurant layout is poorly design especially for serving hot soup, we were seated near the entrance to the bar/cash register and behind us is the communal table. There is a very small walkway behind where my brother was seated and the communal table, everytime the waiters walked past my brother with hot soup, my brother had to bend his head down so the pho can go over him. A few went past him ok, but in my head I knew the pho is bound to spill on someone, and it did. A guy waiter was carrying the hot pho coming out of the kitchen and the other girl waiter was coming the other way to go to the kitchen with empty plates and they bumped into each other and the hot pho poured all over my brother's arm. It is very small walkway, 2 people cannot walk there side by side. They did not have any first aid to offer my brother only ice. My brother's arm was fully red, he quickly ran to the bathroom to run cold water on it. We were only halfway through our meal when this happened, and they brought out another bowl of pho to offer my brother, of course at this stage we weren't hungry anymore. I went to pay and they charge me fully for the meal $58, I would expect not to pay for th meal or at least a discount. Also our ice coffee we ordered did not come out until the soup incident and we had to get it take away. We quickly stopped at the chemist and spend another $20 on cream for the burn, the pharmicist looked at the burn (was more helpful than the staff at the restaurant) and assisted my brother with running more cold water and applied the cream. If you are eating there, be aware of getting hot pho...
Read moreI have been eating at this place since 1996 and the previous owner (Uncle) and staff always made sure that me, my family & friends felt welcome with the best Pho in the area.
Ever since Uncle had to retire and new owners took over a couple of years ago, service and food has gotten from multiple awards standard to HIGHLY UNIMPRESSIVE at a ridiculously fast rate.
Last night, staff kept on getting our orders wrong and were largely uncaring. Soup was super cold and tasteless with no degree of care or flavour I had over the last 30 years.
Additionally, the cost was super expensive (they charged 3 of us $109 AUD+ for 2x small pho, 1x medium pho, 3x drinks, spring rolls and rice paper wraps with small sides).
I have been eating there as a long-time and faithful client over the last 30 years as my number 1 pho place in all of Melbourne to go to. It is so sad that it is just a whisper of what the store and food was, and I VOW NEVER TO RETURN AND EAT AT THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN so I can conserve the memory and high food of what this place once had for me.
Note: if I could vote a negative...
Read morePho here is quite good. The broth is very flavoursome and the Noodles were really fresh and a lot softer than other places I've eaten. There are the usual variants of Pho that most places sell. The Broken rice was nice as well. Staff are OK but the layout of the place is not very good. They don't have any menu's to give you and with 80+ options to choose from (including drinks) it is hard to read the menu which is plastered on one wall. This is because they have light fittings which hang down which block the menu and a tall centre desks with bar stools, so when people are sitting its very hard to see the menu on the wall. My suggestion is to simply get some menu's. The menu on the wall thing is only really useful for places that have a small menu not...
