Disappointing experience: We arrived at your bistro for some light lunch after driving around the Dandenongs. Walked into your venue which was almost empty, the girl abruptly said "did u make a Booking"! , of which we hadn't. We ordered a light lunch of hot chips and a supposedly gourmet Margerita pizza at $19. for the pizza. Within 5 minutes of ordering the pizza got dumped on our table, I asked the girl for two plates as we were sharing, she looked at me, huffed and went of to get the plates, then tossed them down on the table and walked off. The pizza was nothing more than a sloppy melted mess with pastry collapsing, looking more like a supermarket frozen pizza that had been microwaved in 2 mins. It was in edible and my 88 year old mum could not even hold it as the topping was sliding of in blobs. The chips and coffees were nice and the girls serving at the order counter was pleasant , however, the young gen Y girl was rude, ignorant of any manners or correct food protocol serving protocol, and this was just one very unpleasant visit, of which we wont be frequenting ever again.

Had been a while since my last visit to the Middle, in other words Ferntree Gully Hotel. It was probably pre-Covid times. So I've now found out they run "Feast" a food buffet bistro with enough choices of food to please all tastes. Pizza, pasta, Asian, Roast, Seafood, Salads, and a good selection of both hot and cod desserts. It is not 5 star food but at $35 a head for adults, $15 per child, it is good decent quality. Particular favorites on the night I visited was the Sweet and sour pork, the butter chicken, the tiramisu and sticky date pudding. At that price a visit is definitely a good night out.

My daughter's 21st was held in 'the Middle ' function room last weekend. The finger food selection and quality was outstanding. Donna and Jacqui went above and beyond with the service, decorating and attention to detail, right down to finding rose gold balloons. The bar and wait staff were very professional, including making sure our guests with dietary requirements received food from the special platters we ordered. Our guests raved about the venue and indicating they would make future bookings. We had such a fabulous, stress free evening, I strongly recommend you book your next event here!

So sorry had forgotten to review.

Jacqui went out of her way as a new manager to contact myself and speak over the issues. Jacqui was very apologetic and I appreciate the fact she didn't try hide or deny a bad review but took the initiative to discuss and rectify the situation. We and other family members have stayed here numerous times and my Mum was a lover of The Feast before she passed away. Thank you Jacqui and Ferntree Gully hotel for your accommodation and hospitality.

Absolutely disgusted. We stayed there and yes it is cheap enough however it reflected in the lack of cleaning and maintenance. What seemed to be black mold in the shower. Dust all over the fan in bathroom. Shower door was a hazard and would not close properly. Some kind of splatter on bedroom wall. Sheets never changed in the 3 nights staying there. Floors not even vacuumed. Then The Feast..... well I love this place usually. When I come to Melb I make a point of going there. This time my husband got a dessert for me and when I went to eat it I saw mold. I told the function manager and he said sorry I will take it up with the chef. I told my husband when he returned to the table and he said "Oh there is more like that up there." So I went to see and found another. I then took this one to the counter and said "I think you need to pull this from the desserts as it is the 2nd one I have found and it is disgusting." Gosh knows if anyone actually ate any with mold. Once again was told they would tell the chef. Then for the last 15mins of our dining time I was glared at by two staff and one chef like I had done something wrong. I have photos and will be taking it further for the utter disgraceful treatment that we got for advising you of a...

Management and staff were really great. We especially love that the Hotel has a young man with down syndrome on staff. He had a gorgeous smile all night despite one teenage princess having issues with his presence. Our entire table were appalled at her "silver spoon in mouth" attitude. Thankfully the young man hadn't caught what she had said to her very entitled mother. If they are so posh, why be at an all you can eat buffet? Anyway, we didn't let that family ruin our evening. We definitely ruined there's though. We happily expressed our thoughts on them being there compared to the young man with down syndrome. The only issues we had with the restaurant were lack of variety in the Asian foods. 2 noodle dishes, fried rice, mixed veg, sweet and sour pork and satay sticks. No beef and blackbean or any beef or chicken dish in that section. The other issue was absolutely NOT the fault of management or staff and that is, WOW , patrons get SUPER NOISY. It was deafening. Children are running wild back and forth to the play area as the parents eat. I'm a mother of six that are now all over 13 years old. Families with young children able to play in the play area, should be seated toward that area and families without young kids should be seated on the other side. Just makes sense, especially for safety reasons. Anyway, we did feel the hot food section lacked variety in the Asian Foods but if you aren't diabetic, the dessert section has several items to...

After having such a wonderful Christmas lunch the previous year, we decided to go again for Christmas 2021. Sadly this time, was a real disaster. We weren't told that it was a smorgasbord and was expecting the previous years sit down menu and service. They used pork belly instead of a proper roast pork, which was so full of fat, it was virtually inedible. People everywhere pushing in at the buffets, no social distancing, no mask wearing. Staff too eager to take plates, that where yet to be touched. At $100.00 a head, we didn't even get coffee included. This was a real let down from the previous year and I'm sad to say, we won't be going back again. They definitely overcharged for what would be there normal weekly service. Adding a few decorations at the table and adding a non traditional Christmas pudding to the smorgasbord, does not warrant a $100.00 per head. It's clear, they were there for the money and not the real tradition of Christmas, unlike the previous year, which was truly wonderful. Bitterly disappointed. (See following comments).......My family and I had a set menu Christmas Lunch on Christmas Day 2020 and it was absolutely amazing. The food was delicious and the staff were just wonderful. Very friendly and obliging. It was the best Christmas lunch, we have had in a long time. I really hope they do it again, because we would definitely go again. Thank you for giving us a very...
