REVIEW: The corn chips and the Al Pastor Tacos were great. They were my absolute favourites. ✔️ The corn chips were fantastically snappy, with the creamiest guacamole. It was great dish to share and to have small bites in between tacos. Definitely order this! ✔️ Al Pastor Tacos were delicious. They were my favourite out of the three tacos, because it had more of a tangy zing from the pineapple. Grilled pork was yum, along with the spiciness from the salsa verde. There's a little bit of a heat for all the tacos, which I really enjoyed.

✔️ Fish tortas reminded me of a banh mi. In a baguette, the lettuce/cabbage was filled to the brim, and the fried maintained its crisp even with all the wet slaw around it. Magic! ➖ Usually they split it in 2, but I requested it to be 3 because there were 3 of us. I was provided a knife to split it to my heart's content . 😃

✔️ The booths give strong retro vibes with its unapologetic red and white colours. The flat disc lights are also very cool as well! ➖ Lots of people at the weekend lunch rush and it's walk in only. So you need to be there at a good time in order to be seated! There's quite a few spots so there's no big need to fret. ❌ Parking is real bad in fitzroy on the weekend. Not Frankie's Tortas and Tacos fault, more so the location...

Frankie's Tortas and Tacos Heard this places @TortasAndTacos does some awesome tacos so paid a visit. If you get 4 tacos you can split them between the proteins, which gives you more variety so I took that option and got the pork and chicken tacos:

Al Pastor Tacos Grilled pork, salsa verde, pineapple, white onion & coriander

Chicken Tacos Grilled chicken, mango harbanero salsa, pickled red onion & coriander

The chicken has a bit of a spice kick from the harbanero salsa but there are also a couple of bottles of hot sauce so tried a small bit and then more on the next. The harbanero hot sauce on the chicken adds a nice hum but it builds and while my mouth isn't burning I'm sweating! The chicken tacos are excellent, enhanced with a squeeze of lime. Lovely chunks of tender chicken in the generously filled tacos, freshness from the salsa, delicious meat juices, what's not to love? These were my favourite.

The pork tacos are also delicious, plenty of thin slices of tender pork pack the lovely thin tacos. Add a bit of red hot sauce for some extra kick and now we're rocking! The slight acidity and sweetness from the pineapple complements the pork. So yum.

Also opted for the dessert special of spiced dark chocolate bread and butter pudding with mezcal custard. A lovely winter warmer soft soaked bread pudding has a touch of bitterness from the dark chocolate and is enjoyed with the running sauce with the hit of mezcal. Yum dish to finish.

As a Mexican and a food consumer I acknowledge that all Mexican venues are inspired and might not have the full access of Mexican products.

But TBH I think it’s one of the best tacos ands tortas in Australia!!
